The second coming has three phases, the appearing, the coming (parousia) to the clouds and the coming to the earth.

The greek word translated "unsearchable" is the adjective ἀνεξιχνίαστος which is found here and in Rom. 11:33 where it is translated "past finding out".
Why do Christians fail? Why is it there are no perfect Christians? Why did some of God's most dedicated men falter, and sometimes horribly? After the flood experience, Noah got drunk; after being the friend of God, Abraham lied more than once; David committed adultery and murder after close communion with His Lord; Peter, after great experiences with Christ, denied Him, not once or twice, but three times! You show them the acts 28 boundary with patience and deliberation using all the evidence you can muster. But after all that - NO! They just will not accept the truth that is glaringly obvious to all who have come to see and appreciate the revelation of "the Mystery".
The best students of prophecy are confused. By all calculations, Jesus should have come by now. Even for the unschooled, the year 2000 marked a milestone of something calamitous…yet nothing happened! Is it like the scoffers said?
