Elijah was one of the most feared prophets in the Bible. He appears from out of nowhere before Ahab, king of Israel, announcing it would not rain for a few years (1 Kings 18.) We later learn the drought lasted for 3½ years. King Ahab set out to punish Elijah, but his pursuit was in vain until Elijah decided to show himself and set up a showdown with Ahab’s ministerial council. Myriads of sermons have been preached on Elijah’s prayer and God answering it by sending fire from heaven to vindicate Elijah.

The Error of Easter, The Lunacy of Lent and the Fable of Good Friday.

The greatest days for church attendance each year are Christmas and Easter. Now, personally, I like these days because it reminds every person on earth that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh and died, was buried and resurrected for our sin. Everyone is reminded of these two truths twice a year. Also like the truths, there are some lies that are perpetrated at the same time.

MID-ACTS and THEISTIC EVOLUTION

The mid-acts position starts the church (of whom Christ is head) in the book of Acts. This has many consequences, including the playing of doctrinal catch up on many manifestly clear observations about the church that all with open eyes can see. For example the church today has no signed gifts, we do not observe them despite many claims by some for their presence. Yet if the mid-acts position is true then the church should have them -- in fact the body of Christ as taught by Paul in 1 Cor.12-14 is composed of members with these gifts and whose distinctiveness depends on their presence.

By the time you read this, the election results will be history. The New Religious Right will be happy or the liberal left will be happy. Actually, the results will be whether we increased or slowed down our plummet into the depths of destruction. Billions of dollars were spent on promoting a cause. To some the cause was purely racial, they saw no other issue.

Why do God’s people sometimes do bad things? Most of us know someone who used to walk in the Spirit (as best as we could tell) and now they are openly walking in the flesh. Since most religionists think people are saved by their good deeds, it is no problem to brush them off as becoming lost again. We do know that there are counterfeits and that some people have never been saved, such as those in Matthew 7:21-23. I want to discuss those who have been genuinely saved and then turned aside.

Paul admonished God’s saints at Corinth:

This decade has witnessed an increased hatred in our world toward Jesus Christ.  During most of our lifetime, opposition and animosity toward Jesus Christ has been low-key and among the minority.  Today, more and more are becoming openly vocal toward the Lord of Lords and King of Kings.  Jesus told His disciples, when questioned about the end time, that they would be hated by all men for His name's sake (Matthew 24:9.)

I love this time of the year. It is one of two times that the populated world is brought to face some facts about Jesus Christ. The other time is Easter. I am fully aware of all the unspiritual and unscriptural things that surround these times, but they surround every day. Every year for centuries, men are reminded that God came to earth to die for the sins of men. Every year for centuries, men are reminded that Jesus Christ arose from the dead to guarantee the believers in Him a better home in heaven.

"The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever." Psalms 12:6-7

In my lifetime, I have seen America's leadership begin to "…hate the good, and love the evil…" (Micah 3:2.) This hate of good and love of evil seems to parallel with the changing of one Bible translation right after another. Like the Athenians on Mars' hill, today's religious (not necessarily Christian) crowd seem to spend "their time in nothing else, but either to tell, or to hear some new thing." (Acts 17:21) {C}

“He is not here: for he is risen...” Matthew 28:6

Every year the world must hear about the resurrection of Jesus Christ. All the Muslims, Buddhists, New Agers, atheists, etc. are informed one more time that Jesus died on the cross for our sins, was buried and arose again the third day for our salvation.

Christianity is the only “religion” with a living Founder.

“He is not here: for he is risen…” Matthew 28:6

We can sing at the top of our voices, “He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today…”

I believe BUT ...

There are many believers in the Lord who have responded to His call as found in the gospel concerning His atoning sacrifice. You will notice that this gospel is firmly rooted in the OT scriptures and has been eloquently expressed by Paul in 1 Cor 15 which is repeated below:
