The public is being bombarded with conflicting reports on almost an hourly basis. One side says that people are going back to work; their opponents say that jobs are scarcer. One side says that the little man is being helped financially; the other side says that the little man is suffering more than ever. The main line media says we are prospering due to the changes made by this administration and others are pointing out the decline in jobs, income and services. What we know is that both sides cannot be right.

He Leads Us Through, Not Into. "...we went through fire and through water: but thou brought us out into a wealthy place."
Ps 66:12b KJV
With the spring come carnivals, fairs and fun things to do outdoors. The first carnival of the year has just visited our city. Normally, this information would not affect my life, but that was before having a 7 year old granddaughter. She makes me aware of this type of data. Observation of the carnival caused me to draw some comparisons to the “new Christianity” inundating the church.
I have been thumbing through my Bible trying to find verses that instruct us to sneak up on lost people. Today’s mainline churches are going incognito and wearing camouflage! When a law enforcement officer goes undercover, he does so to impersonate the bad guys. Why would a Christian do that? As best I understand it, God wants us to “come out from among them,” not imitate them.
When I walked into the Big Spring Federal Prison Camp 25 years ago next month, I had no idea that God was going to change everything about my life. I had no burden for inmates…I was only going to teach a Bible class in prison because I could not get out of it. For six years I drove 120 miles round trip every Friday night for that class. The last two years of the six we drove back over on Saturday afternoon after visitation to work with the families. It was during this time that the prison system began to expand at a rapid pace.
James wrote in his book,
“Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.“ James 2:19
It seems the devils have a little better theology than most of the world. Our world has multiple gods. The first mention of more than one God was by Satan in his promise to Adam and Eve:
“For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.” Genesis 3:5
The last mention of “gods” is by Paul:
Everyone I read or hear challenges everybody else to “rightly divide the word” (2 Timothy 2:15.) This is good advice, but it is obvious that many of those who challenge others to “rightly divide” are not doing so themselves. How can I be sure of this? They all disagree. As someone once said, “We can’t all be right, but we can all be wrong.” It is interesting to note that some pertinent verses in scripture are very salient and some seem to be constantly ignored. Probably no other verse has helped me get things in perspective as Acts 28:28.
Sometimes we need to be reminded by God why people think like they think and do what they do. Without God’s word explaining the reasons for such actions, our world can get extremely frustrating.
It is frustrating to see educated, successful and knowledgeable people (by world standards) think and do stupid things. Most of our problems, whether deemed financial, political, scientific or social are actually spiritual ones.
Why would so-called good citizens promote murdering innocent babies (abortion) and protest the death sentence for child molesters?
