Everyone I read or hear challenges everybody else to “rightly divide the word” (2 Timothy 2:15.) This is good advice, but it is obvious that many of those who challenge others to “rightly divide” are not doing so themselves. How can I be sure of this? They all disagree. As someone once said, “We can’t all be right, but we can all be wrong.” It is interesting to note that some pertinent verses in scripture are very salient and some seem to be constantly ignored. Probably no other verse has helped me get things in perspective as Acts 28:28.
Right Division Blogs
In Acts 15 we have an account of a harsh conflict between two of God’s children, Paul and Barnabas. Barnabas first appears in Acts 4:36 as one who sold his land and gave the proceeds to the apostles. The next time he appears is in defense of Paul’s conversion (Acts 9:27.) In Acts 11:22-26 Barnabas was sent by the church at Jerusalem to disciple new converts at Antioch. He thought of Paul and brought him to join in this ministry.
“Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.” Psalm 127:1
It is interesting to observe all the different plans and schemes on how to build a church. You would think that everyone would be speaking about prayer, Bible study and soul winning. Those were the simple methods that worked well until people quit using them. As long as I can remember, men have been trying to do it some other way. Men just have a real problem with doing things God’s way.
"Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God." 1 Corinthians 6:9-10
The Bible has always been fairly specific when it comes to naming sin. Today we have crafted euphoric terms to define sin. We have the "unauthorized use of a motor vehicle" instead of car theft. Whether the speaker be Paul, Jesus or another, they called sin by its real name, not a pseudonym.
In the last book of the Old Testament, God commented:
“For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.” Malachi 3:6
In light of today’s preaching and gospel presentations, God should have said, “I am the Lord, but I am going to change and not consume anybody” or “I am the Lord, but I have had a change of heart and everyone is my friend.”
The gospel given to Paul by Jesus Christ was of the utmost importance to Paul. He took it very seriously; he did not allow it to be changed or, as he said, be "perverted."
"I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven preach any other gospel unto you that that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
“Change,” which most of the people desired and voted for, is really speeding up. In fact, it has been gaining momentum even before the 21st century began. The “change” in morals and bibles is running amok. Currently we are being introduced to the latest “new bible,” called the Princess Diana Bible. It is written for gays, stating that God joined two women in marriage and eliminating those verses where God stated very plainly that homosexuality is sin. This is the first, but it won’t be the last bible catering to the filth of the flesh.
We moved our offices after the first of the year, which turned out to be a far greater chore than we had anticipated. It is amazing how much paper and things one can accumulate. When you start sorting through papers, pictures and memorabilia, you really get a chance to tread down memory lane.
We were reminded of those ex-inmates who have gone on to meet the Lord; Stanley Lee, Dr. Bob Earl, Jerry Sanders, Guy Tatum.

One of the descriptions given to the cartoon character, Superman, at the opening of his television program was that he was “faster than a speeding bullet.” Today Superman has a rival in the speed in which apostasy (a total departure of one’s faith and religion) is taking over churches, Christian institutions and ministries. What an unusual time in which we live. Many of the Bible believing churches are dying or shrinking fast. Others have sold out to a contemporary god, changed their name and format and keep asking for funds.
