The greatest king of Israel said:
“The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.” Psalm 14:1-3
Centuries later, Paul echoed:
“As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: Their feet are swift to shed blood: Destruction and misery are in their ways: And the way of peace have they not known: There is no fear of God before their eyes.” Romans 3:10-18
What an indictment on mankind!
Webster defines fool as a person lacking in prudence or judgment.
Did you notice from where David said the fool speaks? Not from his intellect, but from his “heart.”
It is from the heart that we form allegiances. In our relationships, we learn who we can trust and who we cannot, but it is our heart that forms a bond between us and our family; our spouse; our friends. We can even pledge “allegiance” to our country, our school, our state and our club. In any of those “allegiances” we can say them with our mouth, but not mean them with our heart; but we cannot mean them with our heart, then refuse to say them.
Look at our culture. Our marriages have turned into “shack-ups” because we don’t want to commit to any allegiances. Our minds have convinced our hearts that it is alright to kill our children if we don’t have to hear them cry. No wonder the Psalmist said mankind is “corrupt” and does “abominable works.” The “fool” has decided that God did not know what marriage is, therefore, it has been wrong for over 6000 years. Look at the rapidity by which homosexuality has grown. It has moved from the closet to the schoolroom in a short span of time. God called it an “abomination” ( Leviticus 18:22) and whatever the fools do will not make it any better.
It is this same “fool” who accuses guns of killing people and if that argument held any merit we would remove all the cars off the road. Look how many people die each day in auto crashes and not one of these fools has blamed the cars. (However, they do blame SUV’s fairly often.) You would think that nations never had wars until the handgun was invented. What is an “assault” weapon, anyway? Did Timothy McVey use “assault fertilizer” when he blew up the federal building in Oklahoma City?
It is this “fool” who rants and raves about global warming without one shred of evidence. Facts make absolutely no matter to the fool who says there is no God. Once a man says this about God, all these other lies and distortions fit into his scheme of things very easily.
This “fool” will show more compassion for a desert lizard, a tree or a whale than for the welfare of a human being.
This “fool” will whine and complain about the separation of church and state, demanding our educational system teach evolution to our children. When I was in school, they at least, referred to it as the “theory of evolution.” That is all it ever was, but the fools have dropped the word “theory” and teach it as a scientific fact. There is probably no lie taught with less scientific facts surrounding it than evolution. Evolution is just another godless religion.
Many of the lies that our culture now teaches began with psychology contradicting the Bible by teaching the innate goodness of man. It never speaks of repentance or feeling sorry for one’s actions. Psychology teaches that men’s problems are caused by someone or something outside of himself. This teaching includes having good self-esteem, feeling good about oneself and learning to love oneself. Note that everything centers upon oneself.
This type of “self” thinking has invaded our pulpits and our churches have deserted “preaching” of the word for the “counseling” of the world. Our culture has done an “about face” and the “fools” are wondering what went wrong.
“Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him DENY HIMSELF, and take up his cross, and follow me.” Matthew 16:24 (caps mine) (also Mark 8:34; Luke 9:23)
Paul said: “Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each ESTEEM OTHER BETTER THAN THEMSELVES.” Philippians 2:3 (caps mine)
