The public is being bombarded with conflicting reports on almost an hourly basis. One side says that people are going back to work; their opponents say that jobs are scarcer. One side says that the little man is being helped financially; the other side says that the little man is suffering more than ever. The main line media says we are prospering due to the changes made by this administration and others are pointing out the decline in jobs, income and services. What we know is that both sides cannot be right. They could both be wrong (which is so often the case,) but both cannot be right. Along with the political warfare, there is the religious warfare; the Muslims versus the Christians. They have two different Gods, two different Bibles and two different outlooks, so it is normal they would be opposed to one another. What is unusual is the war brewing between Christians over their attitude toward the Muslims.
Let me digress a moment to say that the problem might actually stem from who is really a Christian and who claims to be a Christian. In our time, anyone who is not a Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu or atheist is called “Christian.” Anyone who has trusted Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour knows better than that. Catholics and Protestants are still arch enemies in countries where Catholicism is the dominant religion, while in American the two are lumped together. In countries where the Muslims are in control, Christianity is in ill favor and sometimes banned altogether. It is the same with Hindus and Buddhists.
Back to our subject, why would one group of Christians (so-called) want to participate and fellowship with people who are taught in their book to kill such Christians:
“When you encounter the infidels, strike off their heads till you have made a great slaughter of them.” Koran 47:4
These Muslims are taught not even to be friends to any other religion or belief:
“O Believers, take not the Jews or Christians as friends.” Koran 5:51
Compare that teaching with what Christ taught in the Sermon on the Mount:
“But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.” Matthew 5:44
The two books are nothing alike. The two religions are nothing alike. They both cannot be right.
Amos asked the question, “Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” The answer found through Genesis through Revelation is “NO!”
The Bible has always taught against syncretism, yet man keeps thinking he can accomplish what God said that he could not. Since Eden, Satan has used enticing lies to defeat men. That is Satan’s battle plan.
“Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie.” 2 Thessalonians 2:9-11
Even when Christ calls all of His true believers home, Satan will have a lie, “strong delusion,” to explain what “happened.” There will not be planes without pilots, cars without drivers and cruise ships without helmsmen. Chaos will not occur, but “strong delusion” will. Satan will have an explanation that will fit men’s inquiries. In our time, we are not too concerned about what happened to our neighbor and more and more, we are becoming less concerned about what happened, is happening or will happen to their families.
“Strong delusion” is occurring when we think we can create world peace or a prosperous nation through our votes or efforts.
“Strong delusion” is occurring when men think they can change their hearts without bowing to the authority of Almighty God and His Son, Jesus Christ.
For every avid Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu, atheist, etc., there are ten people who just figure that everything is going to turn out alright! The live from paycheck to paycheck, from ballgame to ballgame, from vacation to vacation, from one technological upgrade to another. Their whole philosophy of life is, “I believe that as long as you are sincere, God will take care of you.” About the only things they are really sincere about are a cold beer, getting a raise or getting on disability.
This “strong delusion” precept works with the theologian, the politician, the business man and Joe Six-pack. As long as Satan can keep our minds and hearts focused on other things, even “good” other things, he is keeping us away from the only One Who can give us true peace and joy.
“For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.” Ephesians 5:8-11
For the unbeliever, things like religion, politics, education, philosophy and psychology may be more muddled and jumbled than ever before. For the saved man, the lines should be clearer and more distinct than ever. Keep Looking Up! Leland Maples
