This lesson was given on June 22, 1986 and was part 1 of the "Signs of the Times" study.  This lesson discusses the need for christians to recognize the time of their calling.  We are told to understand the days of our visitation, and most christians today are looking for the rapture and the Lord's return. However, we are told to study the word and discern the signs of the times. The scripture reading was given in 1 Timothy 4:1-6; 13 KJV "1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils...

The lesson is the second part of "Knowing the Will of God" and was taught by Dr. McLain on June 8, 1986. There are two kinds of religions in the world--those God ministers to in grace and those that want to "do" something for God. God has already done it all. The scripture is found in 2 Timothy 2:1-26 KJV: "1 Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. 3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ...

This lesson was taught by Dr. McLain on June 1, 1986 and is about knowing the "Will of God" in your life. As Paul is our example, we should be filled with joy in whatever state we find ourselves and to glorify God. Each day, time should be set aside for an appointment with God to talk over plans for the day and to ask Him to energize His purpose through us. God hasn't asked us to "do" anything. He wants us to "be" a person of good character. As we lead our lives, He will use us to accomplish His will. The scripture reading was from Philippians 2:5-13 KJV: "5 Let this mind be in you...

The lesson on May 11, 1986 was part 18 of the "Covenants" study and opened up with the scripture reading in 2 Corinthians 3:6-18 KJV "6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life. 7 But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away: 8 How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious? 9 For if the...

"2:23 Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did. 24 But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men, 25 And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man. 3:1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: 2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from...

"12 And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk? 13 The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go. 14 But ye denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a...
