Christmas is here again.!  I love this time of year and…yes…I am familiar with all of the problems, both real and imagined.  There is the commercialism, the falsehoods presented for facts and the multitudes who pay no attention to Christ's birth.

No, I do not believe that the tree in Jeremiah 10:1-5 is the Christmas tree.  I have never seen a tree with real "silver and gold," only silver and gold tinsel, and if you think they are the same, I would like to trade some silver and gold tinsel for your gold and silver.

No, I do not believe that S-a-n-t-a is an acronym for Satan...

I was thinking about the church where I was saved in 1953. We had Sunday School (Bible teaching) and a preaching service on Sunday morning. On Sunday night we had Training Union (Christian training) and a preaching service. On Wednesday night we had prayer meeting and preaching. Most everyone, children included, brought their own Bible. We could even have what they called "Responsive Reading" (a person would read a verse of scripture and the congregation would read the next verse in response.) Wouldn't that be something today? It would sound like Babylon with everyone having a different Bible...

"Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you."  2 Corinthians 6:17

Separation from the world and worldly people has always been the sign of a saint of God.  In the Old Testament, God required His people, Israel, to be set apart from the other people on earth.  Some of His harshest penalties happened because His people comingled with the nations of the world.  Paul, author of over half the New Testament, was very emphatic about Christians being separate in all of his writings.  Paul said we are to...

What chaos our world is in today!  We are completing the seventh year under the most wicked president to have ever served our country. He has tried his best, morally, economically and spiritually to ruin this nation. The only reason America is not totally destroyed is because:

"... the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will." Daniel 4:25

Common sense has left our nation. Courage has departed in preference to popularity and economic security. Politics has taken precedence in sports, business and religion.

In all of the...

News reports and headlines report that the moral and spiritual plummet in the United States are increasing daily. In the midst of the problems the Roman Catholic Pope comes to America and speaks of immigration, global warming and unity, totally ignoring the bloodshed and miscarriages of justice all around us. Prior to his visit here, he signed a treaty with the "State of Palestine" saying he hoped this recognition would stimulate peace with Israel and Israel said it would do the opposite.

The Supreme Court's sanction of gay marriage has created a firestorm among God's people....

Someone asked me if I could talk to one person from my past, who would it be. Without a doubt it would be my daddy. I ran many years behind in realizing how much he loved me, how brilliant he was, how he sacrificed for me and what good advice he gave me. Usually we do not think much of a father's love; we think more of his discipline or instruction, yet the first time "love" is mentioned in the Bible, it is a father's love.

"And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am. And he said, Take now thy son,...

Many years ago I was invited to conduct a weekly "spiritual hour" at one of the drug/alcohol rehab facilities in our town.  Realizing that the term "spiritual hour" could take on many different definitions and be very ambiguous, I wanted to clarify with the director of the facility what he could expect from me.  We both agreed that "spiritual hour" at his facility would simply be "Jesus Christ and the Bible."  It would not include a specific church, denomination or religion.  I can thank the inmates in the Big Spring Federal Prison who attended my Bible class for making me aware of...

It's resurrection time again!

"Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee. But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth." Matthew 12:38-40

Without the resurrection of Jesus Christ, Christianity is nothing. If Christ did not rise from the dead, we...

Elijah was one of the most feared prophets in the Bible. He appears from out of nowhere before Ahab, king of Israel, announcing it would not rain for a few years (1 Kings 18.) We later learn the drought lasted for 3½ years. King Ahab set out to punish Elijah, but his pursuit was in vain until Elijah decided to show himself and set up a showdown with Ahab’s ministerial council. Myriads of sermons have been preached on Elijah’s prayer and God answering it by sending fire from heaven to vindicate Elijah. It is one of those situations like the three Hebrew children in the fiery furnace, Daniel...
