Genesis - Part 21

Genesis - Part 21

The lesson on August 25, 2019 was Part 21 of the "Genesis" study.  As usual, Wayne reviewed what we learned last week after he gave us a quick lesson on the hymnal we sang entitled "In the Sweat, By and By".  The phrase "by and by" in scripture means immediately.  We have come to think this term means "over time".  This is a phenomenon that we have witnessed where words have changed their meaning over time.  It would behoove us to take all the modern bibles we have today and study how they have changed the meaning of words improperly.  Wayne prefers the original King James vs. the errors that have been put forth with these modern bibles. Wayne then reviewed how we were created in the likeness of God in that we have been imprinted with information in our cells that shows that we were made of a creator.  The emphasis of today's lesson was on the metaphor of the Serpent used to describe the Devil.  We looked at other scriptures that reflect this metaphor showing the place of the Devil vs. his actual appearance.  Lucifer was created beautiful as the most high Angel who became Satan after he sinned.  We looked at all the metaphors that are used of Lucifer who became Satan, the Devil, or the Dragon.  All being used to describe his position and character, not his physical appearance. We learned to recognize when the Devil is spoken of specifically vs a devil which refers to demons, which are fallen angels that went with Lucifer when he fell.   The scripture reading was from Genesis 3:14-17 KJV

"14 And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: 15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. 16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee. 17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;"
