Hermeneutics-Part4

The lesson on November 22, 2020 was part 4 of the "Hermenuetics" study.  The focus this week was on Parables and how it is important to understand why Jesus used them and for what purpose they served.  Wayne spent the first ten minutes of this lesson to remind us of the problem we have in America when we have two parties not identifying the real problem, which is a spiritual problem with America.  Until we fix that, we will not solve our national problems.  We then looked at the word "Parable" and was reminded of the Greek "παραβολή" words that mean "throwing along side".   Parables were used when Jesus was teaching about the Kingdom of Heaven and showing Old Testament prophecy being literally fulfilled by Jesus. We looked at Isaiah 35:5 being fulfilled in Matthew 11:4 KJV.  Wayne reminded us of when the disciples asked why he was speaking to them in parables in Matthew 13:10-13 KJV.  Jesus responded "11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. 12 For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath. 13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand."  The scripture reading was from Jeremiah 33:24-26 KJV

Studies

December 4th, 2011

This study given in December 2011 looks at the Christmas Story from a Philippian perspective.  This story has been looked at from many perspectives, but this study looks at the birth of Christ from a perspective of those Christians in Philippians who were instructed by the Apostle Paul. This study also reviews the Real Christmas Story, by Clifford McLain.

January 8th, 2012

This study on Remembrance is inspired by Paul's last letter 2 Timothy, which was written shortly before going to the guillotine.  This makes the message important to us even today. Paul puts Timothy in remembrance of those he is serving and reminds him that Paul also keeps him and the other believers in remembrance always. Life has many choices, but eternity has only two.

September 2nd, 2012

This study looks at the four days in scripture that involves prophecy and judgment.  The current day that we are in is called Man's Day and it is a period governed by grace.  The next three days to come are the Day of Christ, Day of the Lord, and the Day of God.  It's important to understand these days and who they involve and why there is judgement involved.  This study will help you learn about these days using the principles of Right Division.  There is a chart on these days in the Chart Room that should help you learn about each day.

February 3rd, 2013

This study is presented by Dr. Wayne Stewart and it is intended to help the Christian understand the basics of the principles of rightly dividing the word of truth which is mentioned in 2 Timothy 2:15 "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."  This is a fundamental skill if you as a Christian are going to handle the word of God accurately.  All scripture is written for our learning providing us doctrine, reproof, correction and instruction in righteousness.  It is very important to understand what is written to you as opposed to someone else so you may understand why some things promised in the Bible do not seem to work today. This study will help you determine how to understand what is promised to you so you may have peace in your Christian walk.

April 21st, 2013

The Galatians Study, started on April 21, 2013, is a follow up to the ABC's of Right Division taught by Wayne Stewart and takes a verse by verse look at the book of Galatians.  Using the foundations taught from his previous study, Wayne looks at teaching Galatians rightly divided.  This book was written by the Apostle Paul in his first ministry and is defending his Apostleship and the message of salvation by grace during the book of Acts with the churches in Galatia.  This study will teach us Galatians from the context of Paul's teaching through the book of Acts.
