The lesson on November 22, 2020 was part 4 of the "Hermenuetics" study. The focus this week was on Parables and how it is important to understand why Jesus used them and for what purpose they served. Wayne spent the first ten minutes of this lesson to remind us of the problem we have in America when we have two parties not identifying the real problem, which is a spiritual problem with America. Until we fix that, we will not solve our national problems. We then looked at the word "Parable" and was reminded of the Greek "παραβολή" words that mean "throwing along side". Parables were used when Jesus was teaching about the Kingdom of Heaven and showing Old Testament prophecy being literally fulfilled by Jesus. We looked at Isaiah 35:5 being fulfilled in Matthew 11:4 KJV. Wayne reminded us of when the disciples asked why he was speaking to them in parables in Matthew 13:10-13 KJV. Jesus responded "11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. 12 For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath. 13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand." The scripture reading was from Jeremiah 33:24-26 KJV
Here is an audio series that Dr. McLain presented at Northside Bible Church from March 3 through December 8, 1885 on The Acts of the Apostles. This chapter by chapter study covers 32 lessons on Acts which is crucial to your understanding of right division. This study was given after Dr. McLain published the book "Rethinking the Acts" in 1984. Acts is such a crucial book to understand the transition of God's plan of salvation from the Jew to the Gentile.
Here is an audio series covering the Covenants in scripture. It was given by Dr. Clifford McLain in 1986 near his retirement as pastor of Northside Bible Church. This audio series is one that covers the promises made by God throughout the ages as revealed in scripture. A good compliment to these audio lessons are the articles on Covenants as well as the large dispenational chart found in the Charts section.
These are various lessons taught by Dr. McLain over the years not related to any one study. These lessons teach on a number of topics and the subject matter on each of them is so worth listening to help your study.
This study was taught by Dr. McLain in June, 1986 and is about knowing the "Will of God" in your life. As Paul is our example, we should be filled with joy, in whatever state we find ourselves and to glorify God. Each day, time should be set aside for an appointment with God to talk over plans for the day and to ask Him to energize His purpose through us. God hasn't asked us to "do" anything.
This study was given by Pastor Clifford McLain from May 22, 1986 through August 1, 1986 covering the subject of prophecy in our time. The motivation from scripture is found in 1 Timothy 4:1-6; 13 which reads "1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; 3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. 4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer. 6 If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained... 13 Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine."
