The Apocalypse

The Apocalypse Study

This study looks at the book of Revelation from the perspective of Man, His Nature and Destiny which means the lessons will look at the judgments revealed in revelation as it pertains to man.  Whether or not the perspective of eternal torment for the lost is accurate as opposed to just perishing with the appropriate amount of punishment.  This study is best followed by the Man, His Nature and Destiny to provide the context of how by looking at Revelation we may expand our understanding of Man's destiny.

Lessons

The Apocalypse - Part 11

The lesson on February 21, 2016 was part 11 of "The Apocalypse" study.  Wayne gave us a tour of the highlights from the previous lesson and proceeded to finish chapter six of Revelation.  This covered the sixth seal and the earthquake.  We have experienced earthquakes where we live, and some big ones in the past but the earthquakes identified in Revelation will be like nothing we have seen before.  The scripture reading was from Revelation 6:12-17 KJV

The Apocalypse - Part 12

The lesson on February 28, 2016 was part 12 of "The Apocalypse" study.  A summary of the Seals was given to recap what we have learned about the timeline on those who will be participating in these events, particularly the nation of Israel.  Wayne reminded us that Revelation is appended to the Acts period as if the age in which we live in did not happen because the Old Testament prophets did not see this age since it was hidden in God before the foundation of the world.  The scripture reading was from Revelation 7:1-8 KJV

The Apocalypse - Part 13

The lesson on March 6, 2016 was part 13 of "The Apocalypse" study.  Wayne reviewed the previous lesson where we recapped the seven seals (six of which were in Revelation 6).  Today we studied the little group, the 144,000 and the great multitude and saw that all of these groups are related to Israel.  The confirmation that all of Revelation is very Jewish and if we try to apply what is in Revelation to events in our age, we will have a royal mess on our hands.  We looked at passages from the prophets and saw how the were in conjunction with what is being revealed in Revelation because in the promises of Israel were very visible and totally apply with the Old Testament prophets.  The age in which we live in after Acts 28 was not visible in scriptures because it was hidden in God before the foundation of the world and was revealed through the Apostle PAul in Ephesians, Phlippians and Colossians (including Titus, Philemon, 1 Timothy and 2 Timothy).  The scripture reading as from Jeremiah 30:1-7 KJV

The Apocalypse - Part 14

The lesson on March 13, 2016 was part 14 of "The Apocalypse" study.  Wayne spent time giving the context of Revelation in the revealed plan of God and how the prophets of the Old Testament were able to see the mountain tops of the future of Israel.  He also explained that they didn't see our Age Time because that was hidden in God before the foundation of the world and wasn't revealed until after Acts 28 to the Apostle PAul in prison.  We cannot take the prophecies and events of Revelation and import them into our age because it doesn't apply.  The lesson explained about the 30 minutes of silence when the seventh seal was opened before seven angels started the work with the seven trumpets.  Wayne also pondered the question asking if PAul had seen these angels because he mentions them in 1 Timothy 5:21 KJV where he refers to the elect angels.  The scripture reading was from Psalms 79:8-13 KJV

The Apocalypse - Part 15

The lesson on March 20, 2016 was part 15 of "The Apocalypse" study.  Wayne gave a commentary of the book "The Fire That Consumes: A Biblical and Historical Study of the Doctrine of Final Punishment, Third Edition" by Edward William Fudge in which he has been reading and likes the conclusions the author makes in relation to the "Man, His Nature and Destiny" study (which led into this study in Revelation).  This lesson looks at the trumpets and vials and takes not of the partial judgement that is dispensed with 1/3 being the emphasis but it get more serious with the last three which are called "woe" trumpets.  After the trumpets comes the vials which brings all of the wrath of God.  We learned that the bottomless pit or abyss is a place reserved for the devil and his angels because there is no mention that man is sent there.  The scripture reading was from Revelation 8:7-13 KJV
