First Corinthians - Part 21

First Corinthians - Part 21

The lesson on March 15, 2015 was part 21 of the "First Corinthians" study.  This lesson starts chapter nine but begins with a review of the lessons in chapter eight which included several practical things we could apply to ourselves. We learned how knowledge puffs up and it is balanced by love. In chapter 9, Paul is responding to a challenge regarding his Apostleship and his freedom in Christ. He instructs that although we have freedom, we should refrain from these actions for the sake of others who may take offense from them.  This includes drinking of alcohol infront of others who would...

First Corinthians - Part 22

The lesson on March 22, 2015 was part 22 of the "First Corinthians" study.  Lesson twenty two continues in chapter thirteen and provides a quick review and provides the context of what Paul was saying when he wrote "a dispensation of the gospel is commited unto me".  Paul is not wanting to use his freedom if it may be a stumbling block to other weaker Christians. We learn why the priesthood setup the tithing process because the Levites did not have an inheritance.  Tithing was a function to take a tenth of your flock, or grain to bring to temple to provide to the Levites.  Tithes were...

First Corinthians - Part 23

The lesson on March 29, 2015 was part 23 of the "First Corinthians" study.  Chapter ten opens up with Paul addressing the Jewish members of the Corinthian church using their history to emphasize his appeal for their understanding. We learn more about the kind of baptisms in scripture, particularly in the context of comparing our one baptism described in the post Acts books to that of the baptisms in the Old and New Testament, especially during the Acts period (and First Corinthians is an Acts Period Epistle).  The economy of the Acts period was coming to a head in that the time was short...

First Corinthians - Part 24

The lesson on April 12, 2015 was part 24 of the "First Corinthians" study.  Continuing on in chapter ten, this lesson looks at popular passage regarding tempatation and the way the Lord gives you to overcome it. Prior to this emphasis, a review was provided over the different baptisms found in scripture and which on applies to us in the post-Acts period.  The scripture reading was from 1 Corinthians 10:12-14 KJV

"12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. 13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will...

First Corinthians - Part 25

First Corinthians - Part 25

The lesson on April 19, 2015 was part 25 of the "First Corinthians" study.  Continuing in chapter 10, Paul speaks to the Corinthians about fellowship.  This lesson helps us understand the fellowship of what the church had in the Acts period and how the Gentiles participated in the fellowship by carnal contributions for the benefit of the poor.  We also learn how they were to eat meat with a clear conscience instead of consuming meat sacrificed unto idols.  When you compare our fellowship of The Mystery to the fellowship they had during the Acts period, it is clear that the two don't mix.  ...

First Corinthians - Part 26

First Corinthians - Part 26

The lesson on April 26, 2015 was part 26 of the "First Corinthians" study.  This lesson finishes chapter ten and was entitled "The Balance of Truth".  We learn about the context of the fellowship Paul was explaining to the Corinthian church regarding the use of liberty in grace.  He instructed them to restrain from using their liberty when observed by idol worshipers who may see the eating of meat sacrificed to idols as worshiping their gods.  If a Jew were to get their meat at the market, they could purchase and use the meat for eating without concern of where it came from.  Paul also...

First Corinthians - Part 27

First Corinthians - Part 27

The lesson on May 3, 2015 was part 27 of the "First Corinthians" study.  This lesson covers the impact of tradition amongst the Corinthian church during the Acts period. Paul begins chapter eleven with an appeal to the Corinthians that they use their talents to serve Christ by following him.  Paul was teaching what Christ had given him at that time which was the hope of Israel. Christ was waiting for the repentance of Israel during the book of Acts.  We learn about ordinances and traditions that we prominent at the church in Corinth.  Right division is so important because if you try to...

First Corinthians - Part 28

First Corinthians - Part 28

The lesson on May 10, 2015 was part 28 of the "First Corinthians" study.  Paul praises the corinthian assembly for keeping the traditions that Paul had delivered unto them but he does not praise them on how they perform the tradition of communion with the Lord's Supper. We further learn how what Paul is teaching the Corinthian church is based on the Acts period.  When Acts 28:28 judgement occurred, all the traditions changed and we now have the substance, which is the head of the one body, Christ Jesus. PAul later tells us in Colossians 2, that we shouldn't be concerned with the traditions...

First Corinthians - Part 29

First Corinthians - Part 29

The lesson on May 17, 2015 was part 29 of the "First Corinthians" study.  This lesson opens up with chapter 12 where Paul is teaching on spiritual matters or gifts to the Corinthians. When we compare the spiritual gifts given to those in the Acts period vs the gifts listed to us in the post Acts period, we see something has changed! If we try to impose the doctrine of the Acts period books to us today, it is like being in prison.  When you come to the prison epistles, you see that all the shadows of traditions have been replaced by the substance, the head which is Christ. We also learn why...

First Corinthians - Part 30

First Corinthians - Part 30

The lesson on May 31, 2015 was part 30 of the "First Corinthians" study.  This lesson continues in chapter twelve and continues to use the analogy of a spiritual prison if you try to follow what Paul is teaching in Corinthians, seeing that it is an Acts book promoting Acts period traditions and commandments that don't translate to the post-Acts period.  When you look at Paul's ministries, you have to rightly divide Paul and PAul.  The latter being the reference to Paul's prison ministry which occurred after Acts 28:28.  PAul was given a secret to be revealed that was hid in God, before the...
