Genesis - Part 16

The lesson on June 16, 2019 was part 16 of the "Genesis" study.  In the lesson, Wayne looks specifically at the Ark of the Covenant and it's role in the temple.  We learn from the Old Testament of the glory of the Temple Solomon built that housed the Ark and the function in played being the gateway to heaven where God would dwell (which we find as the language of the portal).  We looked at scripture that prophesied of the restoration of Israel and the Temple but we learn that they will no longer remember the name of the Ark because it will be replaced by the true temple of God in Christ...

Genesis Introduction

The lesson on January 20, 2019 was the introduction to this study of Genesis.  Wayne took this lesson to explain how there are many issues that are answered in Genesis and there is a relation to our calling in Ephesians.  In Genesis 1:1 we learn of the foundation of the world or καταβολῆς κόσμου in Hebrew.  When comparing Matthew 13:35 KJV "35 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world." to Ephesians 1:4 KJV "4 According as he hath chosen us in him...

Genesis - Part 1

The lesson taught on January 27, 2019 was part 1 of the "Genesis" study.  We focused on Genesis 1:1 and the incredible testimony of the Hebrew letters and words used to describe the creation of the heavens and the Earth.  We learned of Ivan Panin who discovered that when you assign numbers to Hebrew and Greek letters, it has revealed that there is a mathematical perfection of scripture.  This study has been termed "Gematria" and it is well demonstrated in Genesis 1:1.  "In the beginning God created the heavens and the...

Genesis - Part 2

The lesson on February 3, 2019 was part 2 of the "Genesis" Study. In this lesson Wayne looks at the recreation of God's original perfect creation.  We looked at the Hebrew letter Aleph (א) that is part of every word in the first verse execept for the word "heavens".  The Hebrew Letter Aleph (א) is the first letter in the Hebrew alphabet. The letter Aleph is actually the source of the Greek letter Alpha, as you can see by the similarities in the two letters’ names, and the English letter “A”, is therefore ultimately derived from Aleph, as well. The letter Aleph is one of the most important...

Genesis - Part 3

The lesson on February 10, 2019 was part 3 of the "Genesis" study.  This week Wayne explored the days of creation or re-creation particularly looking at key Hebrew words and deriving further understanding from the words to explain further how God's use of the terms Day and Night do not necessarily mean a 24 hour period.  Further he shows the terminology and how it brackets of the days but day seven when he stops working is not closed off.  God does not get tired but rather He stopped His creative work.  When looking into sixth day, we look in Genesis 2:19-23 KJV "19 And out of the ground...

Genesis - Part 4

The lesson on February 17, 2019 was part 4 of the "Genesis" study.  This lesson reviewed what we have learned already about the creation work in Genesis verse 1 and continued to explore the re-creative work of verses 2 and beyond. We looked into more Hebrew words and were in scripture they occur when reviewing can help us get the clearer meaning of the word and how it may help us interpret them in their context.  The word firmament and heaven were studied where they appeared together.  Wayne was able to show us how he uses his software to look up these references using variables.  We are...

Genesis - Part 5

The lesson on February 24, 2019 was part 5 of the "Genesis" study.  Wayne did a quick review of the word "yom" which is translated "day".  We have spent several lessons exploring if this means only 24 hours and we found there are may instances that uses the term day that is longer than 24 hours because based on what we found, Day 7 cannot be 24 hours long.  We cannot say the days of Genesis 1 are 24 hours in length.  In this lesson we looked particularly close at the Hebrew word that stand for "to create" and "to make or refashion" and the times they occur in the Old Testament and...

Genesis - Part 6

The lesson on March 10, 2019 was part 6 of the "Genesis" study. Wayne took time to dive into the detail around several key words.  First we looked at the phrase "very good" and found it meant functionally good vs. morally good.  Then we looked at Gensis 1:28 where God told Adam "...Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth."  The key words of "subdue" and "dominion" were explained by their Hebrew definitions of (kabash כָּבַשׁ) which...

Genesis - Part 7

The lesson on March 17, 2019 was part 7 of the "Genesis" study.  In today's lesson, Wayne looked at the unique words used only in Genesis which is "and God said" and we looked at a concordance of this in Hebrew.  We learned that in the days of re-creation we see how God brackets the days by saying "and the evening and the morning were the xx day".  Right after this statement, the next verse starts with "And God said..." which indicates God's re-creative work starting at the beginning of the next day.  When you apply this grammatical logic, it clearly shows that in Genesis 1:1-2 were his Ex...

Genesis - Part 8

The lesson on March 24, 2019 was part 8 of the "Genesis" study.  This week Wayne gave us a good summary of what we have learned in the first eight lessons of this series and that due to the scriptural evidence, we should not be a young Earth believer.  In fact, we have learned that the evidence shows that Genesis 1:1-5 does not all apply to Day 1. The original creation and overthrow in verse 2 are not part of Day 1.  The length of each day is not 24 hours in length in that we have seen evidence of them extending for some period of time, and that day 7 is still going.  We believe that...
