Ephesians - Part 27

The lesson on May 18, 2014 was part 27 of the "Ephesians" study.  There are 3 points covered in this lesson which are 1) A great mystery. Where we learn that marriage between a husband and wife is an example of a working out of the greater spiritual truth of Christ and the church 2) Around fathers and their place in the family and 3) Servants and their behavior and how they should work so that they are pleasing unto the Lord, and not man. We leaned about the greek word that means "to submit" and why wives submit to their husbands as the husbands do to Christ. There is a sixfold submission "as unto Christ" in the book of Ephesians. PAul could have used scripture from nature and creation, the law or of nature and original sin but did not.  Rather PAul chose to point out "to submit" on a higher plane is as Christ loved the church.  The scripture reading was from Ephesians 6:1-9 KJV

Ephesians - Part 26

The lesson on May 11, 2014 was part 26 of the "Ephesians" study.  The lesson started with a review of what was learned in the previous lesson regarding our walk.  Walk appears in Ephesians 7 times.  The passages in Ephesians 5 were 2 regarding walk and it was pointed out the our walk should be a sweet smelling savor to the Lord, and not man.  The second walk in Ephesians 5 is to walk accurately.  There is no way the a Christian can walk accurately without right division.  We should walk as children in light.  We looked at the word "redeeming" which is to take control of the events around you.  You should seize the opportunity of opportunities around you.  This was displayed very well by the founding fathers of America.  The new material covered in this lesson looks the word "will" which also occurs 7 times in Ephesians.  The scripture reading was in Ephesians 5:28-33 KJV

Ephesians - Part 25

The lesson on May 4, 2014 was part 25 of the "Ephesians" study.  A review was given of the three points we learned from the last lesson.  These were 1) There is a way to learn Christ.  This instance is on the balance with deeds and works but the emphasis is on the pattern when Paul talks about the form of sound words. 2) Renewal occurs in your mind first before the body. And 3) Putting away lying or the lie.  We looked at the structure in Ephesians 4.  This lesson emphasized the walk and we looked at the 7 times walking is referenced in Ephesians.  Walking, redeeming, and submitting was looked at and how it begins with one to another and then it moves on to wives, husband, children, servants and masters. The scripture reading was in Ephesians 5:13-21 KJV

Galatians - Part 6

The lesson on May 26, 2013 continued the "Galatians" study with part 6 but first paid homage to those that died in the Moore, Oklahoma May 20, 2013 tornado.  It also was Memorial Day weekend so mention was given to honor those who have died for the United States of America. In chapter two, we learn by understanding why Paul is addressing Peter in regards to salvation by grace.  Paul is admonishing Peter that his walk be consitent with his witness to the Jew and not impose that on the Gentile. The Jews and Gentiles are saved by grace but the Jews were given the covenants and were asked to walk according to the law. The Gentile was now justified by grace, not the law. As a matter of fact, Paul is saying the Jew also, because works through the law won't get you saved.  The scripture reading was from Galatians 2:15-20 KJV

Galatians - Part 5

The lesson on May 19, 2013 was part 5 of the "Galatians" study and started out with a birds-eye view of Galatians looking at the diffence between the gospel of the circumcision taught by Peter and the gospel of the uncirumcision taught by the Apostle Paul.  Paul was helping the churches in Galatia understand how he was now preaching the faith which he once destroyed.  The scripture reading was from 2 Peter 3:15-16 KJV "15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; 16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction."

Galatians Study - Part 4

This lesson presented on May 12, 2013 was part 4 of the "Galatians" study.  The first verses of chapter two provided the detail for the study. There was a preliminary review of what was covered in part 3 and the lesson built upon that instruction and continued to explain the differences in Paul's gospel and Peter's gospel.  We further learn how the message to Israel and the Gentiles overlap regarding the context of salvation by grace.  The scripture reading was in Galatians 2:1-3 KJV "1 Then fourteen years after I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, and took Titus with me also. 2 And I went up by revelation, and communicated unto them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to them which were of reputation, lest by any means I should run, or had run, in vain. 3 But neither Titus, who was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised:"
