First Corinthians - Part 31

The lesson on June 14, 2015 was part 31 of the "First Corinthians" study.  Traditions and customs practiced in the Corinthian assembly were unique to the Acts period.  We reviewed why traditions that are taken in that context and tried to be applied today puts the believer in a spiritual prison.  You must rightly divided using Acts 28 as the metaphorical Jordan river when crossing into this age.  One of the most important differences to recognize is the body in Corinthians is not the same body in Ephesians where Christ is the head.  The scripture reading was in 1 Corinthians 12:27-31 KJV...

First Corinthians - Part 30

The lesson on May 31, 2015 was part 30 of the "First Corinthians" study.  This lesson continues in chapter twelve and continues to use the analogy of a spiritual prison if you try to follow what Paul is teaching in Corinthians, seeing that it is an Acts book promoting Acts period traditions and commandments that don't translate to the post-Acts period.  When you look at Paul's ministries, you have to rightly divide Paul and PAul.  The latter being the reference to Paul's prison ministry which occurred after Acts 28:28.  PAul was given a secret to be revealed that was hid in God, before the...

First Corinthians - Part 23

The lesson on March 29, 2015 was part 23 of the "First Corinthians" study.  Chapter ten opens up with Paul addressing the Jewish members of the Corinthian church using their history to emphasize his appeal for their understanding. We learn more about the kind of baptisms in scripture, particularly in the context of comparing our one baptism described in the post Acts books to that of the baptisms in the Old and New Testament, especially during the Acts period (and First Corinthians is an Acts Period Epistle).  The economy of the Acts period was coming to a head in that the time was short...

First Corinthians - Part 9

The lesson on November 23, 2014 was part 9 of the "First Corinthians" study.  Chapter three opens up with Paul explaining how he cannot teach the meaty things of scripture (spiritual meat) because they are babes in Christ living on milk.  There was some divisions discussed and Paul was emphasizing they should not focus on creating divisions but be spiritual instead of carnal.  This was causing envying, stife and divisions.  The Greek word that gives us envying is the same word that is used for zealousy.  Zealousy can be good or bad.  Zeal has to be with knowledge.  The lesson showed how a...

First Corinthians - Part 4

The lesson on October 12, 2014 was part 4 of the "First Corinthians" study.  This lesson looked at baptism comparing the many baptisms found in the old testament and new testament, particularly that of water baptism, compared to the one baptism taught by the Apostle PAul in Ephesians 4:4-6 KJV "4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; 5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.  Something changed at the end of Acts and we learn that PAul was given a secret to reveal to the...

First Corinthians - Part 3

The lesson on October 5, 2014 was part 3 of the "First Corinthians" study.  This lesson looked at Paul trying to solve the divisions found in Corinthians where groups were claiming they were part of an apostles group.  Paul was clarifying how these groups should be unified under the message of Jesus Christ because he has the authority. Baptism was the source of confusion because those were claiming their baptism came from this apostle or another.  Paul clarified that he was glad he had not baptized many because he could not be part of the divisions.  Paul clarified that baptism was not the...

March 9th, 2014

The lesson on March 9, 2014 was part 18 of the "Ephesians" study and continued in chapter four and is looking at the unity of the spirit.  The lesson reviews the logic that PAul is presenting to us in regards to his calling which we are asked to walk along side PAul in this high calling which we are called to join. We learn of the differences of the body spoken about in 1 Corinthians and Ephesians.  The body of believers in Acts, spoken of in 1 Corinthians has within it healings and gifts whereas the body in Ephesians does not have signs and wonders.  PAul tells us in Ephesians that there...

July 14th, 2013

The lesson on July 14, 2013 was part 13 of the "Galatians" study and started strong in chapter 4.  This chapter is where we learn of Jesus Christ special relationship to mankind in the role of the kinsman redeemer.  This comes with understanding how the Gentiles in Galatians were adopted sons to Abraham's hope and blessing by being adopted through the message of Paul's gospel and ties in with the discussion of baptism.  The lesson further explored this by reviewing the story of Ruth.  We also learn of our special adoption in the post Acts period and the unique hope and calling we have in...
