Christmas (Birth of Christ Jesus)

John 1:1,14 KJV

"1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us..."

Christmas celebrates the birth of Christ Jesus.  John 1:1,14 KJV "1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."  1 Timothy 2:5-6 KJV "5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; 6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time."

Fathers House

The message on December 16, 2018 was entitled "In My Father's House" and it was a one off message by Wayne Stewart before he and his family take a Christmas break in New Zeland for the next two weeks.  In this message, we look at the passage in John at the end of chapter 13 when Simon Peter promises to lay his life down for Jesus... and the Lord warning him in verse 38 "...Verily, verily, I say unto thee, The cock shall not crow, till thou hast denied me thrice."  This gives the context for chapter 14 and the famous verse that most Christians memorize in John 14:6 "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."  This is pretty narrow for those who like to claim "there are many ways to get to heaven".  Wayne gives us a better understanding in how Jesus prepared many mansions in His Father's house.  In the Gospel of John, Jesus explains his resurrection takes Him to His Father to prepare a place (New Jerusalem) so when He returns, they will be with Him in that city meanwhile they were given the comforter so they wouldn't be alone.  In parallel, we find from PAul the similar situation exists but it is not with New Jerusalem.  PAul references this in Ephesians 2:20 and 3:17 KJV "22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit. 3:17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,"  The scripture reading was from John 14:1-7 KJV

The fullness of the time - Christmas

The lesson on December 20, 2015 was a Christmas message looking at the fullness of the time.  When celebrating Christmas, we should acknowledge the fact that God became flesh and dwelt among us when he declared in the fullness of time God sent forth His Son that we might receive the adoption of sons. There are many passages that speak to the fullness that we receive when we accept Christ as our savior and through right division, we can appreciate this even more as members of His body, where Christ is the head.  Listen to this lesson for Christmas so you may be filled with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places for this Christmas and beyond when you have life in Christ.  The scripture reading was in Galatians 4:1-5 KJV

The Fullness of the time - Christmas 2015

Christmas 2014

The lesson on December 21, 2014 was on Christmas. This message studied how the Word existed before anything was created, is God and then became flesh and tabernaceled with us.  Christ was born of the virgin Mary without the sin inheritance from Adam passed onto every human at conception.  Since Christ Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit, he was born without original sin.  He lived a sinless life and gave up his life so we may live, if we accept the gift that God gave us in his Son. The scripture reading was from Luke 1:1-4 KJV "1 Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us, 2 Even as they delivered them unto us, which from the beginning were eyewitnesses, and ministers of the word; 3 It seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus, 4 That thou mightest know the certainty of those things, wherein thou hast been instructed."

X-mas

The message on December 22, 2013 was a break from the Ephesians study and celebrated Christmas time. We learned the correct interpretation of the phrase "Xmas" which turns out that it isn't a modern convention at all. It was used commonly in 16th-century Europe, when many people began using the term "Christos," the Greek translation for Christ, to refer to Jesus. The letter chi in the Greek alphabet is symbolized by an X and translates to "ch." So along with the Greek letter rho for "r", the term Xmas was used to refer to the birth of Jesus as an informed abbreviation, not an offensive one. Xmas was a way for Christian scholars to refer to Jesus respectfully in an ancient language -- not to disrespect his name with a harsh symbol by simply X-ing out Christ at Christmas.  However, that is a current trend in the world today.  Christmas time is the celebration of the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ who is the reason for the season.  This message teaches why Jesus came, and what He achieved on the cross.  The fullness of time was discussed and we learn about time in the bible.  It is Christmas time and this message celebrates the fullness and how the Gentiles fit into it. The scripture reading was from Galatians 4:4-5 KJV

“And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. [7] And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. [8] And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. [9] And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

It’s that great time of the year again. It seems the years are getting much shorter. When I was young, I thought Christmas would never get here. As my age has increased the years have grown shorter. What hasn’t changed is the thrill of remembering His birth. Commercialism seems to increase each year. Christmas decorations are displayed before Thanksgiving. The quest for the almighty dollar has not dulled the announcement of the Saviour.

“But when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, to redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.” Galatians 4:4-5

Christmas is here again.!  I love this time of year and…yes…I am familiar with all of the problems, both real and imagined.  There is the commercialism, the falsehoods presented for facts and the multitudes who pay no attention to Christ's birth.

No, I do not believe that the tree in Jeremiah 10:1-5 is the Christmas tree.  I have never seen a tree with real "silver and gold," only silver and gold tinsel, and if you think they are the same, I would like to trade some silver and gold tinsel for your gold and silver.

What chaos our world is in today!  We are completing the seventh year under the most wicked president to have ever served our country. He has tried his best, morally, economically and spiritually to ruin this nation. The only reason America is not totally destroyed is because:

"... the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will." Daniel 4:25

Common sense has left our nation. Courage has departed in preference to popularity and economic security. Politics has taken precedence in sports, business and religion.
