Independence Day Commentary. July 4th in America celebrates the 227th anniversary of independence. No other country has held a single form of government for so long yet America’s christian-based republic is under attack by the spiritual decay of the American people. The founders of America based their government on scripture and finally gave God the credit for founding the country.

Independence Day - The lesson on July 5, 2009 took a break from the Romans study to celebrate Independence Day in America. Psalms 11:1-7 was the scripture reading and most people are familiar with verse 3 “If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?” This is a sobering passage from scripture when applied to America this fear is not a new. I’m sure many generations past have shared this concern. So why bring it up? When bad things happen we begin to lose our faith in God.

The lesson today was taught on July 1, 2012. As America and the world trend more and more to the concept that we are not a christian nation, we are reminded of all the sacrifices made by our forefathers. We remember today the great sacrifices made by those brave men and women in the founding of this country. To question if it was founded as a christian nation is foolish. The wonderful documents leave no doubt that America was founded and based on christian principles and undoubtedly influenced by our God Himself.
