Practical Lessons and Right Division - Part 2

The lesson on July 15, 2018 was part 2 of the "Practical Lessons and Right Division" study.  Wayne reviewed what we studied last week which was the motivation behind this study that comes from Ephesians 4:1 where PAul says "I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called".  By studying the Greek, we learned that this verse has the word calling three times.  A practical walk that is worthy must be one that is based on a calling.  A calling is associated with a walk which will have a common component that all christians will...

Practical Lessons and Right Division - Part 1

The lesson on July 8, 2018 was part 1 of the "Practical Lessons and Right Division" study.  This study follows the Acts 29 which was a deep theoretical look at the post Acts transition from Israel to the Church which is His Body where Christ is the head.  This lesson is the first one in this study which focuses on the practical aspect of Right Division.  Wayne is often theoritical in his studies but this group of lessons will look at the practical aspect of our calling.  The motivation to kick this study off comes from Ephesians 4:1 where PAul states to us "I therefore, the prisoner of the...

Acts 29 - Part 4

The lesson on April 22, 2018 was part 4 of the "Acts 29" study.  We quickly reviewed what we learned last time and then Wayne focused on the evidence of Paul's journey's between his first imprisonment and his last where he was beheaded.  This study is taking a magnifying glass to the activities of Paul from Acts 28 to the end of 2 Timothy.  Why was there an abrupt end to Acts 28 and where was the end?  When Luke recorded in Acts 28:31 that Paul was "Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him." What...

Acts 29 - Part 1

The lesson on March 25, 2018 was part 1 of a new study called "Acts 29 - Paul’s latter ministries and journey(s)".  This study followed the Mid-Acts or Acts 28 study where it left us wanting to put a magnifying glass on the Acts 28 timeline because we learned that in Acts 28:30-31 that Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him, 31 Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.  When did the revelation of The Mystery occur?  This first lesson sets the...

Philemon

The lesson on March 18, 2018 was a look into the letter of Philemon.  This lesson looked at the Apostle PAul's movements after the close of Acts to determine his missionary journey to the Gentiles after his first defense with Ceaser.  PAul often in his epistles gives a lengthy saluatation and Wayne is finding these are gold when trying to pin down his movements.  We learn that Philemon was a Christian slave master and his slave Onesimus had escaped and found his way to Paul in Rome, where he was being of great to PAul and became saved himself.  PAul sent Onesimus back to Philemon so he...

Mid-Acts or Acts 28 - Part 13

The lesson on March 4, 2018 was part 13 of the "Mid-Acts or Acts 28?" study.  This was the final lesson in this series and Wayne provides a recap of why the scripture seems clear that the church which is His body where Christ is the head was created new after Acts 28.  When we studied the body of Christ that was formed in the Acts period, the attributes of this body have a different hope than that is defined in Ephesians.  We did learn that when PAul wrote Ephesians, God gave gifts to individuals to minister to the body of Christ who came through the Acts 28 boundary because they needed...

Mid-Acts or Acts 28 - Part 12

The lesson on February 25, 2018 was part 12 of the "Mid-Acts or Acts 28?" study.  This week Wayne takes an even deeper look at the message of transition from the Jew and Gentile to compare what was taught to the Gentiles after a Jewish group rejected what was taught.  It looks at the message including the kingdom of God which was preached by Paul in Acts 28:23 and in Acts 28:31.  Did it change after Acts 28:28?  No.  At some point in time after Acts, PAul received the Mystery by revelation and wrote Ephesians where he writes about the gifts of categories in chapter 4 that we certain...

Mid-Acts or Acts 28 - Part 11

The lesson on February 18, 2018 was part 11 of "Mid-Acts or Acts 28?" study.  Wayne continued the thought of comparing the body of Christ metaphor to the church which is his body digging deeper in scripture to find evidence that the gifts that were given during Acts were fading away and those gifts given with the revelation of the Mystery were individuals who were mending the previous body of Christ into the new calling and the gospel of the unsearchable riches of Christ.  We also looked at the laying on of hands were part of the old economy which we read in Numbers and Ezekiel.  The gifts...

Mid-Acts or Acts 28 - Part 10

The lesson on February 11, 2018 was part 10 of the "Mid-Acts or Acts 28?" study.  This lesson looks again at the metaphor of the body of Christ, comparing how in Acts, how members could be parts of the head like eyes or ears but after Acts 28, Christ is the head and we are holding the head as members of the body.  Further, Wayne looked again at the gifts given after Acts 28 and studied the reason why these gifts of Apostles, Prophets, Pastors and Teachers were needed because they existed in Acts.  It was offered that the reason they were needed was answered in Ephesians 4:12-13 KJV "12 For...

Mid-Acts or Acts 28 - Part 8

The lesson on January 28, 2018 was part 8 of the "Mid-Acts or Acts 28?" study.  This week the lesson looked at the gifts given during the Acts period compared to the gifts given after Acts 28.  We learned how the gifts during Acts were given to everyone and that they collectively made parts of the body that was part of the church.  These gifts were designed to provoke Israelt to jealousy and Christians had to be careful how they behaved during this period because if they offended God, they would be killed as referenced in Acts 5.  The gifts given after Acts were people He gave some,...
