New Nature

New Nature

Ephesians 1:13-14
"...after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise..." KJV

When you become saved, you receive the new nature which comes from the Holy Spirt as a deposit of your future redemption (Ephesians 1:13-14 KJV In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.) The Holy Spirit gives you a new nature that is now in oppostion to your old nature, called the flesh which was your Body and Soul.  This warfare between the two means the old isn't reformed because we are now a new creation.  This is why as babes, we should desire the sincere milk of the word of God to grow our new nature.  Having studied, memorized and fellowshipped around the word, we mature into Christians that can now study the meat of scripture.  This allows us to put on the whole armor of God and use the only offensive weapon you have been given, the sword - which is the word of God. (Eph 6:13,17 KJV 13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; Hebrews 4:12 KJV For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.) God has provided us grace to account for the flesh winning battles in our behavior but we should always strive for Christian self government to bring honor to God in our ambassador status with Christ.

"THE MYSTERY" Its Reality, The Practical Side (Ephesians Chapters 4 through 6)

The Mystery, Its Reality, The Practical SideSince The Mvstery is a body of many truths addressed to God's people (Col. 1:26), the practical side would of necessity have to do with the walk. "As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in Him." (Col. 2:6) The instructions in this context are no less forthright: "Work out your own salvation (deliverance) for it is God who is energizing you to His purposes." (Phil. 2:12, 13 and 16).  The walk that is worthy begins in meekness and endeavors to keep (not create) the unity of the Spirit (Eph. 4:1-3). Thus, Faith-Obedience in the walk turns on seven distinct fundamental points of stewardship (Eph. 4:4-6). These seven points will be discussed at the end of this article.{C}{C}{C}{C}

The lesson on March 7, 2010 continued this series with lesson 7.  The scripture reading was in Psalms 19:7-11 KJV "7 The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. 8 The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. 9 The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. 10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. 11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward."  The study opened with Colossians 3:15-16 KJV which says "15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord."  We are to have the word of God in our hearts and mind because this is what gets you the power of God.  We need the power because we have a warfare going on within us between the old and new nature.  As it says in Ephesians 4:22-24 KJV "22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness."  You put on the new man by renewing your mind with the word of God.  Remember in Romans 12:2 KJV "2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."  We are in a constant struggle with the old man.

The lesson on March 29, 2009 covers Romans 7:15-18 and continues the Romans Study audio series with this eighth lesson. There is a warfare waging and we are right in the middle of it. The scripture reading today was a tongue twister but it shows the struggle that Paul was going through in this warfare. God has given us the solution to the battle and we find it in the bible. All we have to do is yield ourselves to the word of God and appropriate in our lives and we win the battle!

The Old and New Nature. The lesson on October 5, 2008 was the second part of the lesson given on September 21 on being an Ambassador for Christ. This lesson covers the Old and New nature which is what we find within us when we become Christians.

The Love of Christ. The lesson on February 12, 2006 is given by William Champion, who recently suffered a stroke which affected his speech and the ability to communicate. In retelling his story, he relates the experience to the call of a Christian to glory in the love of Christ. As we are reminded in Ephesians 3:19 (KJV) “And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Contrary to the love of Christ, were reminded of the lust of the flesh.

Paul spoke of the “simplicity” in Christ.

“But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.” 2 Corinthians 11:3

God made things simple for man, but man chooses to complicate them. Adam’s first orders were extremely simple:

Probably no argument has been waxed longer or louder than the one over “Once saved, always saved.” Some have said that this belief honors Christ’s work on the cross; others say that it is a license to sin. “If I believed ‘once saved, always saved’ I would do anything I wanted to do,” is a familiar cry. Volumes have been written on both sides of this coin. A few years ago I wrote an article on “Twice lost, always lost;” revealing that if a person gets saved and then loses his salvation, he is forever doomed. There is no such thing in the Bible of a person getting saved twice!

By the time you read this, the election results will be history. The New Religious Right will be happy or the liberal left will be happy. Actually, the results will be whether we increased or slowed down our plummet into the depths of destruction. Billions of dollars were spent on promoting a cause. To some the cause was purely racial, they saw no other issue.

Why do God’s people sometimes do bad things? Most of us know someone who used to walk in the Spirit (as best as we could tell) and now they are openly walking in the flesh. Since most religionists think people are saved by their good deeds, it is no problem to brush them off as becoming lost again. We do know that there are counterfeits and that some people have never been saved, such as those in Matthew 7:21-23. I want to discuss those who have been genuinely saved and then turned aside.

Paul admonished God’s saints at Corinth:

There are two natures in a Christian, the old nature you are conceived with and the new nature you receive when you become a Christian.  Psalms 51:5 KJV "5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me."  Ephesians 1:13; 4:30 KJV "1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption." God created man with a three-fold nature.  These are the Body
