Language and The Meaning of Words. In Bible study as well as every day conversation, language and words portray specific meanings. We know from Matt 12:36-37 that “…every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned..” There is an old saying “if you’re going to talk the talk, you better walk the walk.” This principle is described in James 2:14 “What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works ?” Do you follow through with the words you speak as a Christian? A hypocrite is someone who says one thing and does another. When Jesus was tempted by Satan, Jesus replied every time with the word of God. For instance, Matt 4:4 says “But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” It’s interesting to see how Satan quotes scripture by adding his own words to twist it for his own purposes. The enemy is an expert at taking words and twisting them to support their own agenda. The lesson on 01-26 -2003 discusses how words used and twisted by the enemy. Click here to listen now.
