The Pledge of Allegiance. The recent terrorist attack on America has resulted in a national surge of patriotism and pride in the American Flag. The pledge of Allegience to America’s Flag was established in 1892, which happened to be on the 400 year anniversary of Columbus’ expedition. In 1954 the words “under God” were added by then President Dwight D. Eisenhower who said “In this way we are reaffirming the transcendence of reigious faith in America’s heritage and future; in this way we shall constantly strengthen those spiritual weapons which forever will be our country’s most powerful resource in peace and war.” The lesson on 10-07 studies the Pledge of Alliegence in relation to the Word of God and how God established the nations and civil government.
