Leland Maples runs the LOOP’s Ministries (Loved Ones Of Prisoners) and leads a Thursday night bible study held in the Rec Room at Life Change Baptist Church in Odessa Texas.  The Rec Room message on Thursday, March 10, 2011 was entitled “Who’s Your Master?” and was given by Leland. {C}

The Apostle Paul exhorted us to “serve the Lord Christ” – Colossians 3:24.  Paul also said he was “a servant of God… Christ…” – Titus 1:1.  No where in scripture is a servant of God and His Christ ever referred to as a “slave”.  The New Age bibles have changed the word “servant” to “slave” thereby demeaning God.  Servant is defined in Romans 6:16 KJV as on who yields himself to another; a free choice.  A slave does not get to make that choice. Romans 6:16 KJV says “Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?”

We learn in Luke 17:7-10 KJV that

1. A good servant doesn’t tell his master what to do
2. A good servant doesn’t seek his own glory, but his masters
3. A good servant always puts his master first

Man may choose to serve Christ of self.  Both “masters” have a pay-off – Romans 6:23
