Lessons

The lesson on March 15, 2015 was part 21 of the “First Corinthians” study.  This lesson starts chapter nine but begins with a review of the lessons in chapter eight which included several practical things we could apply to ourselves. We learned how knowledge puffs up and it is balanced by love. In chapter 9, Paul is responding to a challenge regarding his Apostleship and his freedom in Christ. He instructs that although we have freedom, we should refrain from these actions for the sake of others who may take offense from them.  This includes drinking of alcohol infront of others who would be offended. The scripture reading as in 1 Corinthians 9:1-5 KJV “1 Am I not an apostle? am I not free? have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? are not ye my work in the Lord? 2 If I be not an apostle unto others, yet doubtless I am to you: for the seal of mine apostleship are ye in the Lord. 3 Mine answer to them that do examine me is this, 4 Have we not power to eat and to drink? 5 Have we not power to lead about a sister, a wife, as well as other apostles, and as the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas?”
