The message on December 16, 2018 was entitled “In My Father’s House” and it was a one off message by Wayne Stewart before he and his family take a Christmas break in New Zeland for the next two weeks.  In this message, we look at the passage in John at the end of chapter 13 when Simon Peter promises to lay his life down for Jesus… and the Lord warning him in verse 38 “…Verily, verily, I say unto thee, The cock shall not crow, till thou hast denied me thrice.”  This gives the context for chapter 14 and the famous verse that most Christians memorize in John 14:6 “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”  This is pretty narrow for those who like to claim “there are many ways to get to heaven”.  Wayne gives us a better understanding in how Jesus prepared many mansions in His Father’s house.  In the Gospel of John, Jesus explains his resurrection takes Him to His Father to prepare a place (New Jerusalem) so when He returns, they will be with Him in that city meanwhile they were given the comforter so they wouldn’t be alone.  In parallel, we find from PAul the similar situation exists but it is not with New Jerusalem.  PAul references this in Ephesians 2:20 and 3:17 KJV “22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit. 3:17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,”  The scripture reading was from John 14:1-7 KJV

“1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. 4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. 5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? 6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. 7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.”
