The lesson on February 24, 2019 was part 5 of the “Genesis” study.  Wayne did a quick review of the word “yom” which is translated “day”.  We have spent several lessons exploring if this means only 24 hours and we found there are may instances that uses the term day that is longer than 24 hours because based on what we found, Day 7 cannot be 24 hours long.  We cannot say the days of Genesis 1 are 24 hours in length.  In this lesson we looked particularly close at the Hebrew word that stand for “to create” and “to make or refashion” and the times they occur in the Old Testament and comparing what it means.  We even looked at the verses to learn how the description of God’s creative work involving “ex-nihilo”, describing the act of creating something out of nothing, which is different from where it is describing God making something or performing some reformation of something that already existed.  Wayne takes some time to describe the judgement that came upon the Earth which causes a reformation.  The scripture reading was from Exodus 31:12-17 KJV

“12 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, 13 Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the Lord that doth sanctify you. 14 Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you: every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death: for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people. 15 Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the Lord: whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death. 16 Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant. 17 It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.”
