Lessons

The lesson on March 24, 2019 was part 8 of the “Genesis” study.  This week Wayne gave us a good summary of what we have learned in the first eight lessons of this series and that due to the scriptural evidence, we should not be a young Earth believer.  In fact, we have learned that the evidence shows that Genesis 1:1-5 does not all apply to Day 1. The original creation and overthrow in verse 2 are not part of Day 1.  The length of each day is not 24 hours in length in that we have seen evidence of them extending for some period of time, and that day 7 is still going.  We believe that indemnity was in place between Adam and creation because he was tasked with subdue it and have dominion.  The creation had within it animals that were created for a purpose and that was to be carnivorous and Adam was given the Tree of Life that could heal any injury he received.  Adam was a meat eater from his creation and he also ate vegetables and fruit but was also carnivorous from the beginning.   By comparing Genesis 1:28-29 to Genesis 9:14 we see that God is restating to Noah after the flood to what he had established before with Adam.  In conclusion, the state of things prior to the flood is repeated in order to point out an important prohibition. God made human beings to be OMNIVORES from the beginning – this continued into the post flood period. The ability to find healing for death was now gone. The way to the tree of life was previously guarded. By means of the flood the tree was likely destroyed. The animals were to be dominated and subdued from the beginning!! There was death before the fall with potential death for man also BUT “death by sin” came in through the fall by ADAM.  The scripture reading was from Romans 8:18-23 KJV

“18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. 19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. 20 For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope, 21 Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. 22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. 23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.”
