The lesson on October 8, 2023 was part 8 of the “Wisdom” study.  This covered Proverbs chapter 7.  As usual, Wayne briefly covered what we had learned in chapter 6 from the previous lesson and continued into chapter 7.  Proverbs 7:1-4 KJV opens with Wisdom calling to keep her commandments and live as opposed to the way of the strange woman which is described Proverbs 7:5-23 KJV.  This chapter is straight forward and does not include any parables, but rather describes how the foreign woman who is home while the good master is away on business, decides to seduce a young man, void of understanding.  She does so in a progressive way starting at the twilight of the evening and into the dark black night. This shows the subtle ways of her approach and in the end, forces the man to yield.  In the last four verses in this chapter, Proverbs 7:24-27 KJV, we are shown the results of being involved with the harlot, for she has cast down many wounded; many strong men have been slain by her (examples are David and Solomon!).

The scripture reading is from Proverbs 7:1-4 KJV “7 My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee. 2 Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye. 3 Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart. 4 Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister; and call understanding thy kinswoman:”
