The Holy Spirit

The Gifts of the Spirit

Pentecost cannot be thought of, since the great day recorded in Acts 2, apart from spiritual gifts. By spiritual gifts we mean not the gifts in grace bestowed to believers in all dispensations, but those miraculous gifts that were such a feature in the church during the period covered by the Acts. We can say, for we have demonstrated it, that the appeal to the Old Scriptures is a characteristic of the period covering Acts 1-28. And we can say with equal assurance that the hope of Israel which occurs in the first chapter persists unto the last chapter of the Acts.

The One Mediator-Christ Jesus

For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; 1 Timothy 2:5 KJV

“THE MYSTERY (SECRET) OF CHRIST” as is NOW REVEALED – EPH. 3:4,5

Whether one considers “Christ” in the revealed plan of God or in His hidden purpose, He — and He alone – – arrests the attention like no other person or subject to be found in all of the scripture. Even in the secular world, among friends or foes, in the highest circles and in the lowest levels of humanity, He is. In the affirmative, in the negative, and the neutral or whatever – – He just is!

Trail of The Serpent

God did not create Satan. God created Lucifer, the highest angel in God’s angelic kingdom. Lucifer was the anointed cherub (Ezekiel 28:14; Isaiah 14:12,13). Lucifer then of his own free will wanted to be God and receive worship as God. Through his pride and vanity, he fell and became Satan. This event caused a catastropic event to the Original earth to throw it into a state of chaos.

Other titles for fallen Lucifer, now Satan are:

Elijah Translated

2 Kings 2:1-15 KJV

  1. And it came to pass, when the Lord would take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.
  2. And Elijah said unto Elisha, Tarry here, I pray thee; for the Lord hath sent me to Bethel. And Elisha said unto him, As the Lord liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they went down to Bethel.
  3. And the sons of the prophets that were at Bethel came forth to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Lord will take away thy master from thy head to day? And he said, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace.

The Law

The Law is the Old Covenant given to Israel as stated in Exodus 19:1-8 and referenced in Jeremiah 31:32.

Exodus 19:1-8 KJV

The Prophets

The Hebrew canon is divided into three great groups, a division recognized by the Lord himself, The Law, the Prophets and the Psalms. The Prophets include some historical books, for Old Testament history often is a foreshadowing of that which is yet to come.

Let us first of all set out before the eye the books of the Prophets according to the Hebrew canon.

Saul

1 Sam 9:1-2 KJV

1 Now there was a man of Benjamin, whose name was Kish, the son of Abiel, the son of Zeror, the son of Bechorath, the son of Aphiah, a Benjamite, a mighty man of power. 2 And he had a son, whose name was Saul, a choice young man, and a goodly: and there was not among the children of Israel a goodlier person than he: from his shoulders and upward he was higher than any of the people.

1 Sam 12:18-13:1 KJV

King David

David is mentioned nearly sixty times in the New Testament, and of that number, seven references are of prophetic interest.  They are the following:

Solomon

2 Sam 12:24 KJV

24 And David comforted Bath-sheba his wife, and went in unto her, and lay with her: and she bare a son, and he called his name Solomon: and the Lord loved him.

1 Kings 2:1-12 KJV

Old Covenant

The Old Covenant is the Law that was given to Israel as stated in Exodus 19:1-8 and referenced in Jeremiah 31:32.

Exodus 19:1-8 KJV

Old Testament Ends

Malachi 4:1-6 KJV

The King

Matthew 2:1-11 KJV

New Covenant Offered

The New Covenant Promised For this is My blood of the New Covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins” (Matt. 26:28). In saying “this is,” the Lord Jesus explained that the blood He was about to shed was the blood of the New Covenant, but He did not define what the New Covenant was.

The Resurrection

The Resurrection of Christ. The Easter holiday is the most celebrated event in all of Christianity.  1 Corinthians 15:12 is where Paul was instructing the church in Corinth that the resurrection was real and Christ lives. Further Paul says in 1 Corinthians 15:20-23 “But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

The Acts

The Acts Period

The book of Acts is sometimes called “The Book Between,” “a link,” the key to one phase of right division. It is therefore our desire to unfold for the workman a step by step account of the activities concerning the Holy Spirit as He takes the things of Christ and shows them to us throughout this historical period.  There is also a complimentary audio series you can listen to in the Audio Room.

Acts 28:28

What so special about Acts 28:28?

Simply stated, we believe the passage in Acts 28:28-31 is when the Apostle Paul declares to the Jewish leadership that the final opportunity for their acceptance of Jesus as Christ is over. From that point on the message for the plan of salvation is now authorized to be sent from the Gentiles, apart from Israel. Prior to this point in scripture, salvation was always either through or with the Jew. At this point the nation of Israel has been put on hold but will be still receive the promises and blessings made to them through Abraham in the future (when Elijah restores the revealed plan of God).

The Apostle Paul’s last ministry

After the close of the Acts period and the setting aside of Israel as God’s source for salvation (Acts 28:28), the Apostle Paul was given a special ministry (Col 1:25). His ministry was to reveal God’s hidden plan to the Gentiles and was the last ministry given to the Apostle Paul. This hidden plan was never before made known in other ages or to the other generations (Col 1:26). Paul was God’s prisoner/minister to preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ (Eph 3:1,8)

Day of Man

2 Timothy 3:1-9

1 Corinthians 4:3*

*“Man’s judgment” – the literal in the Greek means “Man’s Day”

A period governed by grace. Man is going his own way under Satan (Ephesians 2:2) Then, according to 2 Timothy 3:9, God interrupts and the Day of Christ is ushered in.

Events at the end of Man’s Day overlap the beginning of the Day of Christ. The Return of Elijah marks the end of Man’s Day and the beginning of the Day of Christ. Malachi 4:5-6

Under Grace

To me, “Grace is the energizing force of God’s love toward all who will receive it.” Others have said it is “God’s love in action.” Webster’s Dictionary defines grace, in its theological setting, as “the unmerited love and favor of God toward man,” etc. Just pick the one you like best!

You Are Here

The Apostle Paul has been given the responsibilty of revealing a secret that was hidden in God before the foundation of the world to the gentiles.  He was given this secret after the close of Acts after Paul declared that the nation of Israel had been put on hold (Acts 28:28).  This “Mystery” was the final body of truth that was revealed that completed the word of God.  This body of truth is sent specifically to you and is your calling for today.
