The message on April 3, 2016 was presented by Leland Maples, who was in town to officiate at the funeral of Sherry McCammon.  Leland mentions he wishes he was visiting for other reasons than a funeral but shared with us an update on the LOOPs ministry before focusing on the passage in 2 Timothy 3:14-17 KJV.  Leland commented on the fact that 2 Timothy is the Apostle Paul’s last book which he usually teaches from because he is old enough that each message he gives may be his last.  Leland pointed out the Paul tells Timothy not to change when he says “Continue”.  Modern Christianity is changing their ways to match the world.  This is a big mistake.  Paul highlights that from a child in verse 15 having known the holy scriptures to a man fully matured in verse 17 becomes thoroughly furnished unto all good works.  The scripture reading was in 2 Timothy 3:14-17 KJV

“14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; 15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.”
