Lessons

The lesson on May 12, 2019 was part 12 of the “Genesis” study.  In today’s lesson, Wayne takes time so show us the relationship between the temple and Eden.  This is a good lesson to follow the previous one where we learned the “Temple and Its Importance to Us” which Wayne presented at the Truth for Today conference. We reflected on the blessings of Mothers Day but dived right into the scriptures regarding the Tabernacle.  The first section recapped the previous lessons in that the pattern that God repeats of how He uses mans free will where they choose to deny his prompting but when they have gone that way He then actively hardens their heart to achieve an evil action that is ordained by God (which is ultimately used for God’s plan).  We then took time to study Acts 13 when Paul traveled to Antioch in Pisidia… “14 But when they departed from Perga, they came to Antioch in Pisidia, and went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and sat down. 15 And after the reading of the law and the prophets the rulers of the synagogue sent unto them, saying, Ye men and brethren, if ye have any word of exhortation for the people, say on.”  Paul took advantage to preach unto the Jews in this local synagogue along with Gentile proselytes expounding on the history of Israel.  We see in Acts 13 where the Jews are intially listening to what Paul was preaching but later rejects what he is teaching and then God uses their rebellion and further hardens their hearts. Gentiles had to be “in Christ” in order to share in the fellowship of the temple. At the end of the lesson, we hear what we will be studying going forward in that Adam was a type of Christ.  The tree of life was the temple in Eden. The scripture reading was from Genesis 2:8-17 KJV

“8 And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed. 9 And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. 10 And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads. 11 The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold; 12 And the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone. 13 And the name of the second river is Gihon: the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia. 14 And the name of the third river is Hiddekel: that is it which goeth toward the east of Assyria. And the fourth river is Euphrates. 15 And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. 16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: 17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.”
