The lesson on September 1, 2019 was Part 22 of the “Genesis” study.  We were introduced to the Devil in last weeks lesson and the focus this week was to explore where the Devil, also known as Satan came from.  We learned that when God gave the Devil his judgement in the role of the fall of Adam, He described him in Genesis 3:14 saying “…Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:”  God was describing his position spiritually vs physically.  The origin of the Devil is with Lucifer.  We learn in this lesson the creation of a beautiful angel that was described as the anointed cherubim that covereth the mountain of God.  Lucifer was the most high angel that God created and fell when iniquity was found in him.  Lucifer sinned and became Satan.  We read in Isaiah 14 and Ezekiel 28 how Lucifer wanted to usurp God and receive his worship.  Lucifer was not a snake or a serpent in physical form but is a snake spiritually.  We also studied how Satan has to be bound by God today so he cannot destroy us.  He is not God so he can’t be all knowing and everywhere.  Part of the reason Lucifer fell was because of the trafficking described in Ezekiel 28:16 KJV “16 By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.”  Their are demons that do the devils bidding.  In Mark 9:14-29 KJV we see the proper way to fight demon possession by declaring your faith with prayer and fasting. There is not evidence that demon possession cannot happen today according to the right division of scripture.  The scripture reading was from Revelation 20:10-15 KJV

“10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. 11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”
