The lesson on October 13, 2019 was part 28 of the “Genesis” study.    This weeks lesson explored further the attributes of the Devil in how he uses scripture against the believer.  What ever form his took before the fall, we learned in Genesis 2:20 “And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.”  Adam had rejected him at that time so being subtle had worked his way back into the Garden to ask Eve… In Genesis 3:1 we see “Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?”  Satan is attacking the Word of God and using Eve’s ignorance of God’s word against her.  In her response to the Serpent she says in Genesis 3:3 “But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.”  Eve misquoted Gods Word by adding “neither shall you touch it, lest ye die”.  Satan’s trap worked.  God never said anything about touching it.  In comparison, today Atheist debate about the existence of God and use scripture out of context and those we are debating are not arguing the proper response if they don’t use Right Division and showing those scriptures who claim signs and wonders are for a prior calling.  Wayne shared a two minute clip of an Atheist arguing that Jesus said you can drink poison and you will not die.  He invited Christians to show their faith by drinking anti-freeze.  The Atheist was arguing Mark 16 and the Christians response what that portion of Mark 16 was not in the text.  Wrong.  It is in the King James translated from texts that had it.  The argument can only be properly made through Right Division to show context of callings. The scripture reading was from Mark 16:14-18 KJV.

“14 Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen. 15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. 17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18 .They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”
