The lesson on June 28, 2020 was part 2 of “John’s Gospel”.  Today’s lesson was covering chapter 2 of the book “LIFE THROUGH HIS NAME” being an exposition of the Gospel of John by Charles H. Welch.  We learn of the prologue specified in verses 1-18 of chapter one of John. Wayne introduces the “Welsharian Perspective” of Acts 28 and draws this out on the whiteboard to help identify the points that Charles Welsh was making.  In reading what PAul wrote in 2 Tim 4:1 KJV “I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom” Wayne took the time to show the Greek and that it should be translated “who is about to judge the quick and the dead”.  The eight signs structure were reviewed. Wayne also reviewed the literary structure in all these books are clearly evidence of the inspiration of scripture. Wayne challenged us to read the introduction to review the summary of the Gospels. Matthew: Christ is set forth as King, Mark:Christ is set forth as servant, Luke:Christ is set forth as man, and John: Christ is set forth as GOD.  The central tenants of this John is life in Christ.  Wayne took the time to show how in John 1:12 KJV, the Greek identifies this verse should have used “Children” vs “Sons” because those who receive life become the children of God and have life.  In the Mystery, we have been adopted as Sons of God with a specific hope and calling.”12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:”.  What hope and inheritance do these children of God have?  Wayne will explain in latter lessons.
