The lesson on January 17, 2016 was part 6 of “The Apocalypse” study.  A review was given of last weeks points and then Wayne spent time on the word “eternal” in relation to eternal life and eternal punishment or destruction.  We learn how to interpret eternal in the context of a something that appears to be perpetual and occurring over and over.  It works to think that way with life, but when we look at punishment or judgment or destruction, it means the end result is eternal.  This lesson does a good job laying out the scripture and examples showing us how to see what is means.  God is righteous and He will not have those that are lost being punished forever.  Instead, God will punish based on what the lost deserve and then perish.  Those that are saved will not perish but have eternal life with resurrection in Christ.  Our resurrected bodies will be fashioned for the ages which God has planned for us.  The scripture reading was in Revelation 8:1-5 KJV

“1 And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour.2 And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets. 3 And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. 4 And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel’s hand. 5 And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake.”
