The lesson on January 24, 2016 was part 7 of “The Apocalypse” study.  This week the focus is in Revelation 4 and specifically looking at the word “throne”.  A review was given for what we learned about the word “eternal” in how it applies to life but also how it applies to the result of something. Eternal life comes from a resurrected body and we learned how the word “eternal” not only applies to length of time but also means age appropriate.  We learn about the throne set and how God is reigning from His throne today.  Is God merely an observer today?  It does explain some of what we observe but God has given us prayer for someone who is suffering.  We may interpret an answer as “no” or if someone recovers, you may give God credit.  If we study the attributes of God’s throne we will see how it may apply to us today and how it will apply during Revelation.  There are 61 references to throne in the New Testament and 36 of them occur in the book of Revelation. When we compare the reference in Titus 3:5; it talks about our regeneration is not based on our works, which is different than the theme of “overcomers” in Revelation, which is all about works.    The scripture reading was in Psalms 11:1-7 KJV

“1 In the Lord put I my trust: How say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain? 2 For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart. 3 If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do? 4 The Lord is in his holy temple, the Lord’s throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men. 5 The Lord trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth. 6 Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup. 7 For the righteous Lord loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.”
