The lesson on December 6, 2009 started a series on the biblical characters involved in the Christmas story. The first individuals looked at are Zacharias and Elizabeth. The title of this lesson would be “The Beginning of the End” makes you stop and think: is there really an end?  In Matthew 24:3-6 KJV the Lord is asked by his disciples… “3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? 4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. 5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. 6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.”  What the lesson covers today is the beginning of the end for it says in Matthew 1:18 KJV “18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.” Before this verse we must go back and learn about some things that happened before the birth of Christ. In Luke 1:4 Luke tells Theopolis “4 That thou mightest know the certainty of those things, wherein thou hast been instructed.” Luke is extolling the certainties of the prophecies of the birth of messiah.
