The Old and New Nature. The lesson on October 5, 2008 was the second part of the lesson given on September 21 on being an Ambassador for Christ. This lesson covers the Old and New nature which is what we find within us when we become Christians. The threefold nature of man is pointed out Hebrews 4:12 (KJV) “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” It also is referenced in 1Thessalonians 5:23 (KJV) “And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” We are conceived in sin within our mother’s womb and we are born with a body and soul, but until we become saved, our spirit chamber is dark. As humans, we are born with our old nature. When we receive Christ as our savior, we are born again with the Holy Spirit as it says in Ephesians 1: 13,14 “In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.” There was a handout with this lesson which you may want to download and follow while you listen.
