Wayne StewartEphesians is a great study for us today because it is the first book of Paul's second ministry to the Gentiles.  We know that Paul was called to be the minister to the Gentiles in Acts chapter 9 and Paul declares so in Hebrews 11:13 KJV.  Paul had two ministries, the first was to the Jew, and the second was to the Gentile.  With his Apostleship to the Gentiles, it took on a entirely new calling in Ephesians, which is considered his Prison ministry.

Paul's first seven books were part of his first ministry, and the second seven books are when the calling shifted to the Gentile only because he revealed a secret that was hidden in God before the foundation of the world.  This study series looks at the secret now revealed to us called The Mystery.

The lesson on October 6, 2013 started a new series on Ephesians and provided an overview of the book. Ephesians is such a huge blessing in the life of a Christian.  When you truly understand the message in Ephesians, it is like being born again, again.  When you look at Ephesians, there is an apparent structure to it.  When you look at Paul's declaration in Ephesians 4:1 and 3:1 of being a prisoner of the Lord, this identifies this as a prison epistle but it is much more than that.  We are encouraged to walk worthy of the basis on the doctrine we were just given.  The structure of the six chapters of Ephesians is divided in chapters 1-3, which was all doctrine which is the basis on which we walk worthy.  Chapters 4-6 are the practical instructions.  When you study Ephesians, you are in the meat of scripture.  The scripture reading was from Ephesians 1:1-6 KJV

The lesson on October 13, 2013 continued the "Ephesians" study with part 2 and answered the question why Ephesians is so important to us in this age.  A contrast was presented in Acts 13 which was a ministry that was presented in picture form of the future Ephesians message.  We learned in Acts 13 that Saul, which was his Hebrew name, also had a Gentile name which was Paul.  In Acts, Paul was teaching to the Jew first in Synagogues all the way until the end of Acts.  Judaizers are those who try and pull us back in Acts period truths that were part of the previous administration.  Paul is taking us forward to be free from that which was given to the Jew showing us a brand new revelation that Paul is revealing that was hidden in God before the foundation of the world.  In Acts, the olive tree was where the Gentiles were grafted in to provoke Isreal to jealousy, but that olive tree was chopped down in Acts 28 (but not forever).  God will bring Israel back to fulfill all the promises they were given.  Ephesians was when God revealed a hidden plan to the Gentiles. The scripture reading for this lesson was in Acts 13:11-13 KJV

The lesson on October 20, 2013 was part 3 of the "Ephesians" study and reviewed the high points from the previous lesson before moving into the main emphasis. In Ephesians 4:1, which is the start of the second major section in Ephesians, the word "beseech" means along side.  Paul is calling you alongside your calling whereby you are callled!  You have to understand the calling that Paul is disclosing to you now in this age.  Paul in Ephesians is revealing the Mystery, which was hidden before the foundation of the world (as opposed to from or since) and is a special truth given to Paul the prisoner of Christ.  Paul tells us in this sacred secret that you have been blessed with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ. In the first 14 verses of Ephesians, we learn of the Will of the Father (1:3-6), the Work of the Son (1:7-11), and the Witness of the Holy Spirit (1:12-14). Finally, the new part of the lesson teaches us about spiritual blessings as opposed to carnal blessings.  We learn the difference of blessings before Acts 28 when comparing our spiritual blessings with previous prayer promises.  Without RightDivison, the christian will be frustrated if they expect blessings based on the previous administration when Gentiles were a part of Israels calling.  The scripture reading was in Ephesians 1:7-11 KJV

The lesson on October 27, 2013 was part 4 of the "Ephesians" study and covered verses 7-11 but first reviewed the previous lessons. The three W's were covered again showing the Will of the Father, the Work of the Son, and the Witness of the Spirit showed there was a work going on in the Trinity which was before the foundation of the world.  There are also three blessings that go along with the three W's.  Where the gospel is preached, the next step is to grow on right division, which will allow you to see the meat of scripture.  We reviewed the carnal blessings in scripture that were given to Israel and then to the Gentiles in the New Testament during Acts because the Gentile was grafted into the olive tree of Israel.  After Acts, PAul the prisoner of the Lord, revealed the Mystery, which was a secret that was hid in God before the foundation of the world.  This is our calling for today and contains all spiritual blessing in heavenly places.  With every spiritual blessings given to us today, this does not include carnal blessings of the pre-Acts 28 calling that people try to pull forward into the present age. Carnal blessings come from hard work! The scripture reading was in Ephesians 1:7-11 KJV

The lesson on November 3, 2013 was part 5 of the "Ephesians" study and covered chapter 1 through verse 14.  In this section we learn of the witness of the spirit and the security of our salvation when it speaks to the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession.  We looked at the word "mystery" or "musterion" when Paul says the mystery of His will. Some charts were presented showing how many times "mystery" was used and we learn from that analysis that you have to distinguish between Pauls two ministries (Paul - prior to Acts 28, and PAul, post Acts 28, when PAul wrote Ephesians). We learn that all the primary hopes (the Land, New Jersualem, and Heavenly Places) will come together in Christ in the dispensation of the fullness of times!  Ephesians is such the meat of scripture and here we find wording that make is personal to us when it says in verse 13... "the gospel of YOUR salvation".  This book is written to you!  The scripture reading was from Ephesians 1:11-14 KJV
