Galatians

Wayne StewartThe Galatians Study, started on April 21, 2013, is a follow up to the ABC's of Right Division taught by Wayne Stewart and takes a verse by verse look at the book of Galatians.  Using the foundations taught from his previous study, Wayne looks at teaching Galatians rightly divided.  This book was written by the Apostle Paul in his first ministry and is defending his Apostleship and the message of salvation by grace during the book of Acts with the churches in Galatia.  This study will teach us Galatians from the context of Paul's teaching through the book of Acts.

Lessons

This lesson was taught on April 21, 2013 and is part 1 of the "Galatians" study.  This is the introduction to Galatians and tells us why Galatians is a study that we should undertake after understanding the ABC's of Right Division.  We learn about Paul's technique in writing his books and then are provided an understanding of the churches he was writing during the book of Acts. This book was written by the Apostle Paul in his first ministry and is defending his Apostleship and the message of salvation by grace with the churches in Galatia. The scripture reading was from Galatians 3:21-25 KJV

Galatians - Part 1

This lesson was taught on April 28, 2013 and is part 2 of the "Galatians" study.  This lesson looks at why Paul is defending his message to the churches in Galatia.  The scripture reading was in Galatians 1:6-14 "6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: 7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. 10 For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ. {C}{C}

This lesson was taught on May 5, 2013 and is part 3 of the "Galatians" study.  Part 3 finishes chapter one and it looked at the special gospel that Paul was given from a direct revelation from Jesus Christ in Arabia (perhaps at Mt. Sinai).  Paul's gospel was the message of salvation by grace to the gentiles that was spoken about in the scriptures and is explained in Galatians 1:23 KJV "23 But they had heard only, That he which persecuted us in times past now preacheth the faith which once he destroyed."  The scripture reading was from Acts 9:17-24 KJV

This lesson presented on May 12, 2013 was part 4 of the "Galatians" study.  The first verses of chapter two provided the detail for the study. There was a preliminary review of what was covered in part 3 and the lesson built upon that instruction and continued to explain the differences in Paul's gospel and Peter's gospel.  We further learn how the message to Israel and the Gentiles overlap regarding the context of salvation by grace.  The scripture reading was in Galatians 2:1-3 KJV "1 Then fourteen years after I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, and took Titus with me also. 2 And I went up by revelation, and communicated unto them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to them which were of reputation, lest by any means I should run, or had run, in vain. 3 But neither Titus, who was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised:"

The lesson on May 19, 2013 was part 5 of the "Galatians" study and started out with a birds-eye view of Galatians looking at the diffence between the gospel of the circumcision taught by Peter and the gospel of the uncirumcision taught by the Apostle Paul.  Paul was helping the churches in Galatia understand how he was now preaching the faith which he once destroyed.  The scripture reading was from 2 Peter 3:15-16 KJV "15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; 16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction."
