Galatians - Part 1

Galatians - Part 1

This lesson was taught on April 21, 2013 and is part 1 of the "Galatians" study.  This is the introduction to Galatians and tells us why Galatians is a study that we should undertake after understanding the ABC's of Right Division.  We learn about Paul's technique in writing his books and then are provided an understanding of the churches he was writing during the book of Acts. This book was written by the Apostle Paul in his first ministry and is defending his Apostleship and the message of salvation by grace with the churches in Galatia. The scripture reading was from Galatians 3:21-25...

Galatians - Part 2

Galatians - Part 2

This lesson was taught on April 28, 2013 and is part 2 of the "Galatians" study.  This lesson looks at why Paul is defending his message to the churches in Galatia.  The scripture reading was in Galatians 1:6-14 "6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: 7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9 As we said before, so say I now...

Galatians - Part 3

Galatians - Part 3

This lesson was taught on May 5, 2013 and is part 3 of the "Galatians" study.  Part 3 finishes chapter one and it looked at the special gospel that Paul was given from a direct revelation from Jesus Christ in Arabia (perhaps at Mt. Sinai).  Paul's gospel was the message of salvation by grace to the gentiles that was spoken about in the scriptures and is explained in Galatians 1:23 KJV "23 But they had heard only, That he which persecuted us in times past now preacheth the faith which once he destroyed."  The scripture reading was from Acts 9:17-24 KJV "17 And Ananias went his way, and...

Galatians Study - Part 4

Galatians - Part 4

This lesson presented on May 12, 2013 was part 4 of the "Galatians" study.  The first verses of chapter two provided the detail for the study. There was a preliminary review of what was covered in part 3 and the lesson built upon that instruction and continued to explain the differences in Paul's gospel and Peter's gospel.  We further learn how the message to Israel and the Gentiles overlap regarding the context of salvation by grace.  The scripture reading was in Galatians 2:1-3 KJV "1 Then fourteen years after I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, and took Titus with me also. 2 And...

Galatians - Part 5

Galatians - Part 5

The lesson on May 19, 2013 was part 5 of the "Galatians" study and started out with a birds-eye view of Galatians looking at the diffence between the gospel of the circumcision taught by Peter and the gospel of the uncirumcision taught by the Apostle Paul.  Paul was helping the churches in Galatia understand how he was now preaching the faith which he once destroyed.  The scripture reading was from 2 Peter 3:15-16 KJV "15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; 16 As...

Galatians - Part 6

Galatians - Part 6

The lesson on May 26, 2013 continued the "Galatians" study with part 6 but first paid homage to those that died in the Moore, Oklahoma May 20, 2013 tornado.  It also was Memorial Day weekend so mention was given to honor those who have died for the United States of America. In chapter two, we learn by understanding why Paul is addressing Peter in regards to salvation by grace.  Paul is...

Galatians - Part 7

Galatians - Part 7

The lesson on June 2, 2013 was part 7 of the "Galatians" study. This lesson provides a review of the two issues discussed in Part 6, which are 1) The Faith of Christ, and 2) the Transgression (which Paul was discussing becoming a transgressor in Galatians 2:8 if he taught the things which he previously destroyed).  The Jews were not to build the thing which Paul destroyed.  The Jews were replacing the grace of God with something that came from the law and this was the transgression.  The lesson continued with the scripture reading which was from Galatians 2:21-3:7 KJV "21 I do not...

Galatians - Part 8

Galatians - Part 8

The lesson on June 9, 2013 was part 8 of the "Galatians" study and is in chapter 3.  Initially, the lesson reviewed the "faith of Christ" versus our "faith in Christ" as the primary source of failth for our salvation.  The Faith of Christ was constant, He never waivered all the way to the cross.  Our failth may waiver at times even though we may not admit it, it is always changing.  If we were to rest on our own personal faith for justification, it would be a terrible thing.  The faith of Christ is rock solid and is what our justification is based on.  A comparison between the Acts period...

Galatians - Part 9

Galatians - Part 9

The lesson on June 16, 2013 continued the study in "Galatians" with part 9 and covers chapter 3 verses 15-20.  This passage is exciting to study because there are some challenges to understand what is being said regarding the addition of the law to the promises.  We learn about mans covenant in regards to a Jew.  We learn about the time frame reference of 400 years and 430 years (which was from the promise made to Abram and the Exodus out of Egypt). We also learn what the meaning of verse 20 where Paul speaks of... "a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one". The scripture...

Galatians - Part 10

Galatians - Part 10

The lesson on June 23, 2013 was part 10 of the "Galatians" study.  Chapter 3 is covered, particlarly the part where Paul declares to the foolish Galatians that they should learn the understanding that salvation is by faith and not by the works of the law.  We also learn that when God gave the promise to Abraham, it was declared to him when Abraham was under a deep sleep.  Consequently, there was no mediator involved because God declared his program to Abraham.  It was a one way discussion.  We learn how algebraic math demonstrates that the addition in this passage speaks about law being...
