New Covenant

New Covenant
Hebrews 8:8 KJV
"...Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:"

The New Covenant.  This is something that has been promised to Israel after God gave them the Old Covenant (the Law).  It was first mentioned in Jeremiah 31:31 KJV "31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:"  and it was mentioned again in Hebrews 8:8 KJV  "8 For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:"  The New Coventant was not given to Gentiles.

The New Covenant and the Revelation of The Mystery

January 8th, 1986

While Matthew xxvi 26-29 and Mark xiv. 22-25 both record the Lord Jesus taking the bread and the cup of the Passover supper and explaining their significance in relation to the New Covenant, yet in neither is it mentioned that He instituted an ordinance. These two Gospels are especially suited for that proclamation connected with the earthly sphere of New Covenant blessings, and for the still future proclamation of that gospel (Matt. xxiv. 14; Mark xiii. 10). Luke is the only Gospel to record the fact that an ordinance was then instituted (xxii. 15-20).

The New Covenant Ordinance of the Lord’s Supper

As the New Covenant by its very name directs our attention to that covenant that has been rendered old, so also does the occasion of the institution of the memorial ordinance of the New Covenant direct us to the Passover.

The purpose of the Passover is given in Ex. xiii. It was instituted on the day when the Lord made the Old Covenant with Israel (Heb. viii. 9), not the day when Israel agreed to keep the terms of the covenant (Ex. xix).

The Passover was given in order that they might:

The New Covenant and The Gentiles

Up to the present, we have only considered the covenants as they relate to Israel, but that the Gentiles find a place in these covenant blessings is now our special interest.

When the Old Covenant was made with Israel, the promise was that if the covenant was kept they should be a kingdom of prists in the earth.

"Now, therefore, if ye will obey My voice indeed and keep My covenant, then . . . ye shall be unto Me a kingdom of priests and an holy nation" (Ex. xix. 5, 6).

The Ministration of the New Covenant

April 5th, 2020
Genesis - Part 50

The lesson on April 5, 2020 was part 50 of the "Genesis" study.  This week Wayne took us to Genesis 9 and introduced us to the Noahic Covenant God gave after the flood.  We learned of the Adamic Covenant which was the first covenant established of death by sin and the promise of the remedy through the seed of the woman.  These two covenants were given before the remainder of the covenants given to Abraham and Israel. The full list of Covenants include: Adamic, Noahic, Abrahamic, Palestinian, Mosaic, Davidic, and the New Covenant. The first two apply to everyone.  The remaining pertain to Israel.  The question was put forth "Have we taken the promises God gave originally to Israel?".  Wayne takes the remainder of the lesson to explain how Christians today are trying to import portions of these covenants and try to apply them today in our age.  This is a misappropriation of scripture and ignores what was subsequently was given to us through PAul the prisoner in The Mystery which was revealed after Acts.  The Mystery does not pertain to any of the Covenants given to Israel.  The Mystery was hidden in God before the foundation of the world and when it was revealed gave us the answers that are for us today.  The scripture reading was from Genesis 9:9-12 KJV

Genesis - Part 50
August 18th, 2013

The lesson on August 18, 2013 continued the study on "Galatians" with part 18 and finished chapter four.  Upon opening, Wayne had drawn a bust of President Abraham Lincoln and mentioned this would close the lesson today with the subject of liberty.  He then provided a review starting with Galatians 4:27 where Paul said "It is written..." and then talked about New Jerusalem and how it was the "mother of us all".  The "us" relates to those of Galatians in the book of Acts.  The lesson looked at the alegory where Sarah was representing New Jerusalem and the New Covenant while Hagar was representative of Old Jerusalem and the Old Covenant.  There were many more comparisons in this analogy between Sarah and Hagar.  It is amazing to see how these two were alagorized to reflect so much in contrast from the old to the new.  Wayne took us back to Isaiah 53-55 and showed how what Paul was speaking about what Israel had received in redemption through the seed of Sarah over Hagar.  All these promises were given to Israel.  We learn of Doctrinal Truth in addition to Dispensational Truth.  Doctrinal truths apply across dispensations which is demonstrated by the fundamentals of salvation.  Salvation is the same for everyone because it is received by grace through faith.  This is an example of Doctrinal Truth.  But we find dispensational truth when Paul said their was an advantage of being Jewish because the oracles of God were committed unto them. We learned of the name "Lo-Ammi" which was used by Paul of Israel at the end of Acts.  The lesson finished with Galatians 5:1 where the emphasis was to boot out the bond woman and her son because we want to stand fast in liberty and not fall back into the yoke of bondage. The scripture reading was in Hebrews 12:22-24 KJV

The Hope of the Church of the One Body - Part 3. Most of Christianity today teaches only two spheres of blessings, and the lesson here teaches on the second sphere of blessing which is New Jerusalem. The first sphere of blessing involved what was promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (who had the 12 fathers of Israel) being their seed would be like the sand, and stars in heaven and that they would inherit the Promised Land. This involved promises made through covenants with the nation of Israel (Abrahamic, Palestinian, Davidic, and the New Covenant).

January 12th, 1986

The lesson on January 12, 1986 was part 1 of the "Convenants" study and is the first introduction to the series.  The scripture reading in Jeremiah 31:31-37 KJV "31 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: 32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the Lord: 33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. 34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the Lord; for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. 35 Thus saith the Lord, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The Lord of hosts is his name: 36 If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the Lord, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever. 37 Thus saith the Lord; If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, saith the Lord."

Have you noticed that today's "Messianic synagogues" are made up mostly of Gentiles, not Jews? Among some Christians there is the thinking that to partake of Jewish feasts, Jewish rituals, Jewish days and Jewish attire makes one more spiritual than a Gentile in a New Testament church. Even in the future Smyrna church during the tribulation period there will be people claiming to be Jews who are not (Revelation 2:8-10.)

Israel, today, is "Lo-ammi" (Hosea 1:9) meaning not My people. Israel's condition is described in Hosea 3:4:

The New Covenant Promised For this is My blood of the New Covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins" (Matt. 26:28). In saying "this is," the Lord Jesus explained that the blood He was about to shed was the blood of the New Covenant, but He did not define what the New Covenant was.

The Millennium and the Kingdom of Heaven

The Kingdom Dispensation (1000 Years - Rev. 20:4) The recalling of Israel brings the long-awaited Kingdom of Prophecy into fulfillment. One Thousand Years of righteous government shall follow. A time when the chosen nation shall be a blessing and a benediction to the nations of the earth (Zech. 8:13:,23; Ex.19:6). A time when God shall call earthly people to stand (consist). Yes, they will stand because the Lord has spoken it, and He will do it. (Ezek. 36:25-28,36; Rom. 11:11-36; Acts 15::16; Jer. 30:31; Isa. 61:62; Zech. 12-14)

The Lord Jesus Christ is the One of Whom all God’s inspired ministers spake. He is their subject, whether it be the Baptist, who testified of Him to Israel as the One about to visit them, or Paul, who testified of Him as our ascended and seated Head at God’s right hand. Even the Lord Himself testified concerning Himself, and we know that His testimony is true. God thus revealed His Son, and His several purposes in Him, by means of the ministries of those appointed. They spake and wrote according as it was given them, and their testimony is preserved to us in the Holy Scriptures.
