New Nature Lessons

Leland Maples runs the LOOP's Ministries (Loved Ones Of Prisoners) and leads a Thursday night bible study held in the Rec Room at Life Change Baptist Church in Odessa Texas.  The Rec Room message on Thursday, September 8, 2011 was entitled "Make Sure You Get It Right" and was given by Leland.  Special music was by Charles Reynolds.{C}

The lesson on March 29, 2009 covers Romans 7:15-18 and continues the Romans Study audio series with this eighth lesson. There is a warfare waging and we are right in the middle of it. The scripture reading today was a tongue twister but it shows the struggle that Paul was going through in this warfare. God has given us the solution to the battle and we find it in the bible. All we have to do is yield ourselves to the word of God and appropriate in our lives and we win the battle!

The Old and New Nature. The lesson on October 5, 2008 was the second part of the lesson given on September 21 on being an Ambassador for Christ. This lesson covers the Old and New nature which is what we find within us when we become Christians.

February 12th, 2006

The Love of Christ. The lesson on February 12, 2006 is given by William Champion, who recently suffered a stroke which affected his speech and the ability to communicate. In retelling his story, he relates the experience to the call of a Christian to glory in the love of Christ. As we are reminded in Ephesians 3:19 (KJV) “And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Contrary to the love of Christ, were reminded of the lust of the flesh.

Think on these things. Philippians 4:8-13 gives us very important insights into applying the mind of Christ in our lives. The most important event in anyones life is that of salvation in Christ. Next, it’s up to the Christian to learn what truth has been given to us today. Finally, we are instructed to “think on these things”. The mind is the place where we battle Satan for every thought that comes forth. As we wage war with him, sin continues to be Satan’s ally as it wrestles for control over our thoughts to be filled with anything but Christ.

His way, and not my way . Paul gives us an example of how we should live our lives in Philippians. Remember, we’ve been given the ultimate weapon with the Mind of Christ to overcome every attack of the mind that Satan brings. If you’re standing on the Lord’s side, there is a battle going on with Satan to move you off track. Further, the old nature you have in the flesh is constantly at battle with the new nature. The comfort and joy we are to experience as believers comes from putting our trust in Christ. Trust in the Lord with all things by having your mind constantly in tune with His.
